Sorry for my disappearence for the last couple of months, but im back now and thats the end of that.
Back to the new episode:
Tracy speaks on the phone with the governor. He tells her to switch on the TV, which is featuring an interview with Nathan Petrelli, the now chairman of Homeland Security. Tracy assures the governor she doesn't know anything about what he's doing, and she hasn't spoken to Nathan in two months. On TV, Nathan talks about protecting the American people from a serious threat. As Tracy dresses, she notices the bathroom window is open. After closing and locking it, she turns to see a man in a commando outfit. She grabs his arm and tries to freeze him but can't since he is insulated. She tries to run into the living room where she finds other armed men. She refuses to beg and demands to know what they want, one of them shoots her with a tranquilizer dart, and has the other men cover her hands. The leader calls to tell Petrelli they have the first one.

Hiro takes Ando to a fire station and explains that it's now their lair. He presents Ando with a new spandex costume and explains that superheroes must hide their identity. Ando figures that Hiro wants to live through him, and his power is worthless. Hiro disagrees and says it's his destiny to be a superhero. Ando disagrees and Hiro reveals the Ando-cycle, complete with a communications link to their "lair". Hiro can track his location with a GPS implant, and injects Ando with the implant. He explains he has a GPS as well, and the system is keyed to the password of someone he cares about. Ando insists he has had enough and rides away on the Ando-cycle.

Peter is working as a paramedic and dealing with a car accident victim. He's unable to save the victim and his partner Hesam finally pulls him off when Peter refuses to give up. Peter insists he could have saved him, had he been stronger.

Claire is going over college brochures when Angela comes in and says that an elite education is vital. Claire isn't so sure but Angela insists she try to have a normal life. Claire worries about Sylar but Angela insists that he is dead. Her granddaughter doesn't believe her, saying that her father keeps going on trips and she'll find Sylar if no one else believes her.

In Baltimore, Sylar goes to a watch shop and picks up a watch. The owner, Martin Gray, comes in and points a shotgun at him thinking he's a thief. Sylar asks where he lived 27 years ago and if he walked out on his family. Sylar says he is Martin's son and has some questions for him.

Daphne superspeeds back into her apartment where Matt is eating. She says she's been working but he's unhappy that she's been using her powers when he's refused to. He wants to live a normal life but she insists it's boring. However, as he talks, a vision of Usutu appears to him. Daphne, who can't see it, says she'll go along with his plans.

As Claire is leaving, she overhears Angela talking to someone. As she listens in and hears that it is Nathan talking to Angela, who admits she can't control Claire. Nathan warns that they have to keep Claire away from Matt and Peter because they're going to take them down. Claire sees that Angela has seen her and walks out, and Angela warns Nathan they have a bigger problem.

Martin explains that he's a different person now and that it was a mistake to have a child with Sylar's mother. Sylar doesn't believe that he is the son of a watchmaker and a woman who collected snow globes and demands answers, and Martin explains that a man who needed money gave Sylar to him. His wife couldn't have children and Martin thought it was the perfect answer. Martin explains the man was his brother and gives Sylar an address, then tells him to leave. Sylar knows he speaks the truth and considers using his power to get more information but decides not to and leaves.

Peter watches as the dead man is taken away. His partner asks if Peter plans to visit his brother, who is in town for the day. He admits that Nathan scares him because he's talking about putting away people who are "different," and figures Peter wouldn't understand. Peter says he doubts it, then takes a call from Claire. She warns him about Nathan's plan to round up people and that Matt is their next target. Peter goes to talk to Angela while Claire goes to warn Matt. Peter gets in a cab and finds that Mohinder is the driver. They speak in a friendly manner, Peter asks Mohinder if he ever had the feeling like he was meant to do something extraordinary and they share a laugh. Mohinder notes that they're all keeping a low profile, except for Nathan. He says that the possibility of uncontrolled powers is a major risk and he's willing to let the government take control. They get to their destination and Mohinder lets him out.

Once Peter is gone, a man gets in the cab behind him. It's the leader of the commando team, and he points a gun at Mohinder, telling him to drive. They go to a parking lot where men in black commando suits are waiting with guns. The man tells Mohinder to get in their van. As Mohinder gets out, he rips off the car door, knocks out the leader, and uses the door as a shield. He runs away and Noah arrives in a SUV and rescues him. As they escape, Noah asks him who he's been in contact with. They get to the exit only to discover that the hunter and his men have cut them off. Noah apologizes and then tasers Mohinder, who staggers out of the car and collapses.

Peter arrives at Angela's home and finds Nathan waiting for him. Nathan informs his brother that their mother isn't there and apologizes for not having seen him in a while. He says it's all his own plan, not his father's plan and he's taking a cautious approach because he was shot the last time he tried to go public. Peter accuses him of being a hypocrite and Nathan says he'd like his input. Peter isn't interested but Nathan asks for a chance to talk over dinner. Peter gives in and leaves, but as he goes Nathan asks him what he can do. Peter points out that the last thing Nathan saw him do was fly, and then leaves.

At his apartment, Matt notices that his turtle has gotten out of his tank. Usutu appears to him and says he has a message for him, and explains that he's an illusion. Usutu says that Matt is on a journey to become a prophet and the world needs him to tell them the future. He says that Matt will learn how to paint the future. Matt sits down with paper and pencil; his eyes turn white almost immediately and he starts to sketch.

Hiro tracks Ando and calls him, trying to apologize. Ando say that he's fighting crime but Hiro pinpoints his location on the computer and discovers he's at a strip club. Ando has no interest in helping people, but he hears the sounds of an attack at Hiro's end. He gets on his motorcycle and heads back to the lair, as men in black take an unconscious Hiro out.

Matt finishes a picture of himself and Claire examining a picture as someone knocks on his door. He draws a gun and finds Claire. She asks if anyone has come to get him and Matt shows her the drawings. There are several other drawings and he says he doesn't understand. He finds another picture of himself with a dart in his neck, just as someone shoots a dart through the window into his neck. The men in black arrive and hold Claire at gunpoint as Matt goes down.

Peter arrives at his apartment and finds Nathan waiting for him. Nathan apologizes for disowning him and says what he's doing is important for the country and the world. He says Peter can't live his life normally because he's not normal, and says he can make special arrangements. Peter wonders what he wants and Nathan says he wants to know that Peter is with him. Peter refuses and says that he'll fight him if necessary. Nathan smiles and asks for a hug, and Noah tasers Peter from behind.

Sylar goes to the home of Samson Gray, taxidermist. The door is open and he walks inside. Sylar finds a picture of himself as a child on the mantelpiece as well as a snow globe. He also notices a smoking cigarette in an ash tray. More men in black emerge, shoot him with tranquilizer darts, and try to immobilize him. Sylar uses his telekinesis to send them back and his electrical powers to stun them. He pulls one of the men to him and demands answers, then starts to slice the man's head open until he talks. The man, Simmons, gives his name but nothing else and Sylar continues to torture him for information.

Back at the lair, Ando tries to come up with Hiro's password and finally enters his own name, successfully gaining access. Hiro's location is displayed as North Africa.

At an airplane hangar, Nathan reviews the prisoners, all confined to negate their powers. The Hunter arrives and reports that Sylar escaped. He also shows Nathan Claire, who is being kept semi-conscious. Nathan asks for a moment alone with her and he tells her to go home and forget what she's seen. She refuses but he puts her in a car and has her driven away.

As the prisoners are being loaded onto a cargo plane, Claire recovers and knocks out the driver by kicking his head into the window of the car. She sees the plane departing and runs to it, then climbs into a landing wheel bay. As the plane lifts off, Nathan looks on and then walks away.

Aboard the plane, Claire emerges into the cargo hold and unhoods one prisoner: Hiro, drugged and unconscious. She finds Peter and Mohinder and removes the drug feeds from both of them. Peter manages to touch Mohinder and take his power, using it to break his shackles. As Claire frees Tracy, Peter attacks the guards. Claire grabs a taser and goes to the cockpit, stunning one guard and threatening the pilot. She discovers, to her surprise, that Noah is in the co-pilot's seat.

Peter tries to free Tracy as another guard attacks him. He gains Tracy's power and inadvertently touches the side of the plane. It freezes and shatters, and the guards and at least one prisoner are swept out. As the plane starts to go down, the netting Peter is holding onto comes unfastened and he starts to get swept out as well. Mohinder grabs him but starts to lose his grip…

Arthur is doing more precognitive sketches. They include: Peter and Nathan falling toward a jungle; Sylar kissing Elle; Hiro, Matt, and Ando standing in a cornfield; and Noah holding a dead Claire.
Angela is considering a photo of the Petrelli family and then looks outside at the coming eclipse.
Ando and Hiro look at the last page of the 9th Wonders! comic, which shows an eclipse and the words "It's coming."
Sylar tests his newly acquired lightning powers while Elle looks on. Sylar says he needs to prove himself to someone, but says she wouldn’t understand. They’re interrupted when Arthur comes in and asks Sylar to find Claire. Elle insists on going with him, admitting that being a “Company” girl is all she knows. Sylar asks Arthur if he’s okay with it, and Arthur says it’s a good pairing.
At the Primatech facility, Claire speaks with Angela, who informs her she has an important part to play: avoid being caught. Nathan is going to find the Haitian and Matt will find Hiro. Angela escorts Claire into Level 5 where prisoners Eric Doyle and Danny Pine are confined. Claire wonders if Angela is going to lock her up, but Angela says she has another plan. Noah is waiting for her.

Nathan is preparing to depart for Haiti and Peter says he'll need some help with the Haitian, who is looking for a Level 5 escapee, Baron Samedi; Samedi is involved with slavery and drug trafficking. Peter says that without his powers, he's not sure who he is or what his purpose is. Nathan assures Peter that he still has a purpose even without his powers but agrees to take him along. Nathan has Peter hold on as he flies off into the sky toward Haiti.
Mohinder is conducting an autopsy on his test subject and realizes that he himself is still mutating. He goes to see Arthur and demands the catalyst. Arthur shows him the picture of Noah and Claire and says it’s going to happen today. Mohinder says it’s impossible since Claire can't die, but Arthur asks him how it could happen. Mohinder suspects the eclipse is involved and notes that if Claire dies, the catalyst dies with her and he can't get a cure. There’s another sketch of Mohinder in a cocoon and Arthur warns that everything is going to change today.

Matt and Daphne are in Brooklyn looking for Hiro's phone number in Matt’s files about Kaito Nakamura's murder. Daphne is nervous and says that Arthur scares her and she betrayed him. She thinks she betrayed Matt as well and he assures her that he trusts her completely. She wonders how he knows her so well and says that it was a dream. Matt insists he won’t let anything happen to her. They’re interrupted by a knock on the door. Matt opens the door and finds Hiro and Ando. Ando shows him the comic that depicts Matt helping Ando.
Noah takes Claire to Stephen Canfield’s home, saying that it’s safe now that Canfield is gone. Claire remarks that he's doing whatever it takes to keep the catalyst safe. Noah says that he’s worried about her, not the catalyst.
Matt scans Hiro’s memories but can’t understand his thoughts, which are in Japanese. Meanwhile, Daphne comments about Ando being "dead" from the last time she saw him, and when he questions her she says she’s now a good guy. Ando insists the comic book says Matt holds the answer but Matt doesn’t know how to help Hiro. Meanwhile, Hiro is looking at Matt's turtle. Daphne says she can’t handle it and noticed Matt pausing when he said he trusted her. She heads for the door and he reads her mind and picks up a thought of Lawrence, KS. She tells him to back off and super speeds away, and Hiro thinks she’s cool.

Sylar and Elle go to the Hotspur car rental agency and Sylar checks in with Arthur. Arthur thinks that Noah has Claire, and Sylar knows where he’ll go because he knows how Noah thinks. Elle is worried about him, thinking that he’s obeying authority too easily. Sylar tries to ring the bell for the agent, but Elle tells him that she told the car rental agent that Sylar is a serial killer who kidnapped her. When Sylar wonders why, she explains that she doesn’t want Arthur or anyone else making him into something he isn't. She says they can do and take whatever they want. The agent comes out with a rifle and says he knows what’s going on. Sylar tries to explain without success and Elle pressures Sylar by asking who he really is. The clerk strikes Sylar, drawing blood, and says he'll be a hero for turning Sylar in. Sylar glares at him, his injury regenerating, and says he hates heroes.

As the eclipse draws nearer, Mohinder records a log wondering what the eclipse signifies and how he’s changing. He’s wracked by spasms of coughing and notices more adhesive fluid extruding from his hands.
Noah is tearing up the floor at the Canfields' home and gives Claire one of the wooden boards. He tosses it to Claire and tells her to hit him, if she wants him to train her. Claire says he’s trying to exorcise his guilt and she insists she can handle things. He says he’s trying to keep her safe and tells her to hit him. She takes a swing and Noah easily deflects her and then turns it against her, choking her. He gives her instructions on how to improve and tells her to go again.
Tracy calls Arthur with information on where Nathan and Peter are going. Tracy wonders if Arthur is going to hurt Nathan, and Arthur says there are some things out of his control. Tracy, concerned, says they need him. Arthur tells Tracy to go to the Marine training facility at Parris Island and use some of her connections to put together an army. She balks but he says she has to do what he says or Nathan won't make it to the White House. When Angela comes in, she quickly cuts off and claims it's a business call. She strolls out past a suspicious Angela.
At Matt’s apartment, Ando is reading 9th Wonders! comics where Matt insists he has to find Daphne. He wants Hiro to teleport him to Lawrence, KS. Hiro turns to a page in the comics showing them at a corn farm in Lawrence, KS. When Ando explains, he teleports them there to the field outside of Daphne’s house. Matt hears Daphne’s thought and runs toward the house. However, Ando looks up as they see the sky darken from the eclipse.

Mohinder rips himself free of the cocoon and looks in a mirror to discover he’s back to normal.
Peter and Nathan climb out of the lake and Nathan admits he has no idea what happened but he can no longer fly. Peter remembers there was an eclipse the first day Nathan flew. However, Nathan suspects that the Haitian made him lose his powers. They make their way through the jungle and find voodoo totems that Peter identifies them as pwen, prayers for redemption and salvation. Nathan says he saw the Haitian’s village from the sky and heads in that direction, even though Peter says the map shows it’s in a different direction.
Matt knocks at the farmhouse door and Mr. Millbrook answers the door. He says that Daphne isn’t there but Matt calls out and Daphne tells him to go away. Matt tries to use his telepathy on Mr. Millbrook and glares at him, but nothing happens. A puzzled Mr. Millbrook goes back inside and Matt explains that his powers are gone. Hiro confirms that his powers are gone and they wonder what’s going on. Inside, Mr. Millbrook asks Daphne if she’s going to explain who Matt is, and she says she won’t. He says she’s been gone a long time and she asks if she can just go home. He asks if she’s okay and she says it’s happening again. She asks if he still has "them" and he goes to get them.
In Haiti, Peter and Nathan come to a ravine and Nathan says they can double back. Peter wonders if Nathan will admit he’s wrong. Nathan snaps at him, saying that every time Peter has been in trouble Nathan has been there to save him. Peter accuses him of being a puppet and a coward, letting himself be manipulated by Arthur. Nathan wonders where it’s coming from and Peter says in the future he's seen, Nathan will choose Arthur. Nathan disagrees, saying he's trying to stop Arthur now, and turns to find the Haitian, motioning him for silence.
Claire is still practicing her swinging but is tiring out. Noah wonders where her anger has gone and tells her to swing at him. She tries and he asks what she’s thinking. She talks about how she hugged him every time he’d come back from a trip in the hope he wouldn’t leave. She hits him in the leg and asks why he left, then walks toward the door. Elle comes in and tries to use her lightning, but nothing happens. Noah draws a gun and tells her to leave, but Sylar comes in behind him. However, Sylar’s power doesn’t work either. Noah and Sylar struggle and Noah drops his gun. As Noah dislocates Sylar’s shoulder, Elle picks up the gun and prepares to shoot Noah. Claire throws herself in the path of the bullet and falls to the ground. Noah knocks Elle unconscious and then picks up Claire and gets her out of the house. Sylar picks up the gun but passes out from the pain before he can shoot.
Noah takes Claire to the Bennet house where Sandra wonders what happened. Noah explains that Claire has lost her power and tells her not to call the hospital, which will call the police. He insists it’s a surface wound and they can deal with it. Sandra reluctantly agrees and goes to get medical supplies. Claire recovers consciousness and admits she’s been careless, but is at least happy she can feel pain again. Noah thanks her for saving his life.
In Lawrence, Hiro tries to use his powers again without success. Ando thinks Arthur may be responsible but Matt doesn’t believe it. Hiro says they have to save Daphne but Matt says he can’t. Hiro remembers the Hero’s Quest, to triumph without powers. Hiro starts throwing ears of corn at him while Ando translates, saying that Matt can’t doubt. Matt catches an ear of corn and Hiro asks him not to hurt him. Inspired, Matt goes to the house, and Hiro say she has a plan to get his powers back. Hiro and Ando walk down the road and Ando says they’ve reached the end of the comic book. Hiro says they have to find a comic book store to find the next issue.
Mohinder determines that every facet of the formula has disappeared from his body. He has no idea why or how and then brings up a file on Maya. He prepares to leave but Arthur and Flint come in. Arthur says that Mohinder has to get everyone’s abilities back and Mohinder warns that it may be irreversible. Flint slams Mohinder into the wall and tells him he’s going to stay there until Mohinder gets their powers back.
Hiro and Ando find a Sam's Comics and Hiro starts going through the racks, realizing it’s Wednesday: new comic day. They approach the owner, Sam, and his co-owner Frack, and they recognize Hiro from the 9th Wonders! comic.
As they make their way through the jungle, the Haitian is surprised to hear that Arthur is alive, and says he didn’t strip Nathan of his powers. The Haitian says he has also lost his abilities and has to stop Samedi, his brother. Samedi is invulnerable to physical damage, and the Haitian explains that he is building an army based on superstitious fear of those who think he's a god. Peter insists on helping, and points out to Nathan they should do it for no other reason then so that the Haitian can complete his task and go back with them. They’re interrupted when soldiers open fire on them. The soldiers capture Nathan while Peter and the Haitian escape. Samedi emerges from the jungle and says they know all about him: Arthur warned them he would be coming. Samedi knocks him out and has his soldiers take Nathan to the camp. Peter and the Haitian watch from the jungle.
Noah determines that Claire isn't running a fever and tells her to get her rest. Claire says she loves him and he says he loves her. He goes out and Sandra tells him not to leave her daughter. Sandra says that Claire is scared and needs him, but Noah says there’s something he has to finish.
Mr. Millbrook gets in his truck and leaves, and Matt goes to the front door and knocks. He tells Daphne he isn’t leaving until he talks to her but she tells him to leave. He refuses and says he knows who she is: smart, beautiful, funny. He says he’s in love with her and is never going to give up on her. She tells him to come in and he follows her voice to the bedroom. She’s crippled, her legs useless, and didn't want him to see her that way.
Sandra brings food in for Claire but discovers that she’s unconscious and bleeding badly from her injury.
Elle relocates Sylar’s arm and he tries to use his powers without success. He takes the gun and admits that he used to understand everything, but now nothing makes sense. Sylar admits that it’s a relief not to feel the hunger. Elle admits she pushed him to become a monster and he says it wasn’t her fault, she was just following orders. She says they can’t take what they want any more but Sylar questions that, grabs her, and kisses her passionately. Outside, Noah is drawing a bead on him with a sniper rifle.

Outside of Usutu's hut, Hiro screams in agony as Arthur Petrelli holds Hiro's head. Ando lunges at Arthur, who telekinetically throws him away in midleap. Arthur informs Hiro he needed to clean up his mess, but notices a painting of an eclipse on the nearby rock wall. He goes to study it and Ando frees Hiro from Arthur's control. Ando tells Hiro to teleport him away, but Hiro doesn’t know what Ando’s talking about. As Arthur walks toward them, Hiro thinks of waffles. Ando forces him to close his eyes, and Hiro teleports them to a bowling alley in Tokyo, Japan. Hiro sees a chicken & waffles poster and follows a waiter to a nearby table. Hiro asks why Ando is so old, then looks at himself in a mirror and thinks he looks old as well. Ando asks him how old he thinks he is and Hiro says 10.

Back at Pinehearst, Sylar is watching repairmen fixing the windows when Arthur teleports to his side. Arthur comments that it’s hard to believe that Peter could have survived the fall. He takes Sylar down the hall and explains he can teach his son how to take powers without killing by harnessing his empathy. Arthur says he knows Sylar saved Peter, then escorts him into a room where Elle is chained to the floor. She recognizes Sylar and fires a lightning bolt at him, blasting him apart.

At Peter's apartment, Claire tells Peter that they need to leave but Peter says he’s going alone and he can protect himself even without his powers. He says he needs her to stay innocent. There’s a banging noise on the door and Claire tells Peter to run down the fire escape, saying she has a plan to hold them off. Knox and Flint barge in and Flint ignites his hand while Knox tries to feed on her fear without success. She leaps out the window, falling past Peter and landing in the alleyway several floors below. Peter gets down and the two of them run away. As they go, Pete notices a painting of the Earth splitting open on the alleyway wall. They go down into the sewers.

Arthur visits Mohinder in the Pinehearst laboratory and Mohinder admits he’s wondering if it’s impossible to give people abilities without an adverse reaction. Arthur notices Mohinder monitoring an upcoming solar flare and admits he has a similar interest. Mohinder notes that a number of powers manifested during the last eclipse but dismisses it as a coincidence. Mohinder concludes that the formula is sound but there’s something missing: a necessary catalyst. Arthur tells him to keep looking but Mohinder explains that that the catalyst would have to be in a human host. Arthur realizes that Kaito Nakamura knew what it is, but didn’t hide it well enough. As he goes, the test subject inside, horribly mutated, writhes in pain.

Sylar falls to the floor, regenerating his injuries. Elle swears at him, saying he killed her father. Sylar says it wouldn’t do any good to apologize and she deserves vengeance. He stands up and tells her to blast him again and she does.

Matt and Daphne arrive at Primatech only to find it deserted. Matt sees Usutu ahead and follows him, only to find himself in Angela’s room and Usutu nowhere to be seen. Angela’s still in a coma and Matt uses his telepathy to read her mind. He gets a painful feedback and says he has to help her; Daphne says she'll go find a nurse.

At his office in Pinehearst, Arthur is studying files on Kaito and Claire when Daphne superspeeds in and tells him about Angela. He says his wife will be fine and she asks if they can keep Matt out of it. He tells her he can always send Daphne back where he found her, and she asks what he wants her to do. He says that if Matt tries to help Angela, he’ll deal with it.

In the sewers, Peter explains that the alleyway they were in is where she shoots him in the future. He warns her he’s trying to stop that future from coming true. He tells her to go home but she says it’s his fault for becoming her friend and her hero. She’s going to stay with him to return the favor. They hear someone coming and Claire sends Peter off while she goes toward Knox and Flint as they arrive. Knox addresses her by name and says that they came for her. Knox easily subdues her and Peter hears her cries.

In Tokyo, Hiro eats waffles as Ando tries to explain that Hiro’s 28. Hiro is happy to hear he doesn’t have to go to school any more and shoots spitballs at nearby girls. Ando tries to explain Hiro's power and tells him to try to use it. Hiro says it’s stupid, but concentrates, and time slows down momentarily. Hiro returns time to normal and is impressed, and tries again, totally freezing time. He aims the two girls shooting spitballs at each other the runs around the bowling alley playing pranks. Once he’s done, he restores time to normal and all of the pranks go off. Ando says they have a lot of work to do.

Daphne returns to Matt as he tries to get inside Angela's head. Daphne asks if he can get hurt, and Matt admits he’s only done it once with his dad. He asks Daphne to stay there and watch him while he disappears into Angela’s head. He concentrates and sits back.

Elle continues to electrify Sylar, whose burns heal. Sylar tells her he didn’t want to kill Bob or anyone else. He insists he’s not going to let the urge force him to kill any more. Elle, unimpressed, hits him with another lightning bolt and he says he understands she needs to let it out. She continues to hit him with electricity until, exhausted, she finally tells him to kill her. He extends his hand to use his telekinetic abilities.

Nathan and Tracy arrive outside Pinehearst, and he remembers a cabin called Pinehearst where Arthur took Nathan and Peter fishing. Tracy says there may be a reason Arthur kept his existence secret, but Nathan says he has to know the truth and see his father if he’s alive. They go to Arthur’s office and meet him. Arthur asks him to come give him a hug and Nathan cautiously circles him. Arthur addresses Tracy by name and shakes hands with her. Nathan asks if Arthur knows what he did to the family and Arthur admits he should have told Nathan what Nathan's role was in all this. Arthur asks Tracy to step outside so he can talk alone with his son. Arthur explains that the events of Nathan’s last two weeks are part of his destiny and pats him on the shoulder. Nathan shrugs him off and says it’s the same garbage that Linderman spouted. Arthur says the destruction is already coming and he has the formula that will stop it. Arthur says that Nathan has always been the strong son and they can save the world together.

Sylar telekinetically shatters Elle’s chains and she tells him to take her power and kill her so the pain will stop. He says that her father made her a monster just like his mother made him a monster. He says she saved him, but Elle says she only saved him so they could use him as a lab rat. He forgives her and says that she needs to forgive herself. She considers what he’s said and realizes the pain is gone. He holds up his hand and generates electricity.

Peter confronts Knox and Flint and says they can let her go or they’ll die. He glances up at the ceiling where a gas pipe is leaking. Peter taunts Flint into releasing a ball of flame into the gas and Knox tries to stop him… too late. Claire runs away with Peter as the gas jet blows Knox and Flint back.

Elle and Sylar are sitting together and Elle admits nobody has ever done anything like that for her before. He explains that it’s human to be at war within and the trick is to figure out how to deal with it. She holds her hands up and they exchange a bolt of electricity, but he admits he doesn’t have it all figured out yet. She offers to show him a few tricks and he quickly becomes proficient. She moves closer to him to direct his aim and he thanks her, and she thanks him. Arthur is watching them on a monitor.

In Tokyo, Ando tries to explain to Hiro how to teleport. Hiro teleports away and appears behind Ando, then does it again. Ando says now he needs to teleport both of them and suggest they go to Charles Deveaux's rooftop or Odessa, Texas. Instead Hiro teleports them to a comic book store and starts going through the racks.

Nathan leaves Pinehearst, telling Tracy what Arthur told him. Tracy says that he’s a senator with a constituency relying on him. She tells him to snap out of it and they need to go to the Department of Justice, but Nathan notes that the last time he tried to go public, his brother came from the future to shoot him. Nathan says he’s going to Primatech to check on his mother and flies off.

Tracy goes back into Arthur’s office and says she thinks they can help each other. She wants him to protect her and in return she explains that he needs a public face and everyone believes he’s dead. Tracy says Nathan can be that face, but he’s on the fence, and she can push him over.

Daphne watches helplessly as Matt sees the visions that Angela experienced of Nathan, Peter, and Tracy dying. Matt finds himself in an empty Pinehearst room and looks down the hall to see Angela sitting in a chair, handcuffed to the arms. Angela tells Matt he shouldn’t have come and warns that Arthur is too dangerous. Matt tries to free the handcuffs without success and gets one door open. Daphne walks in and says she’s there to help him, and he hugs her. Then she stabs him in the chest. In the real world, Daphne listens as Matt says “Daphne don’t” and flinches in pain. She tries to get Matt to wake up and discovers blood on his chest.

Mohinder is recording notes on the test subject and apologizes to the man. The subject begs for death and Mohinder gives him an injection.

Hiro is reading Marvel comic books and notices an issue of 9th Wonders! with him on the cover. Hiro doesn’t believe it reveals the future, but Ando opens it and shows him first a picture of Arthur attacking him, then a picture of them in the comic book store having their discussion. Hiro finally believes him and they turn to the next page, which shows the eclipse and the words “It’s coming.”

Peter goes into the room to see Angela and Nathan arrives. Angela tells them that Arthur has the formula and explains that she and Peter have seen the future. She says that there’s a third piece of the formula, a catalyst, and it’s hidden away in the blood of a human host. Kaito is the only one who knew the host, and he’s dead. Matt says all they need to do is make sure Arthur doesn’t find the host. Claire remembers when Sylar attacked her and said she was different from everyone else. She says she now understands that she’s the catalyst.

During almost a montage sequence it shows the Heroes and Villains choosing their respective sides.

In the end, we see Peter, Nathan, Claire, Matt, and Daphne in Angela's Room. While in Arthur's office we see Tracy, Knox, Sylar, Elle, and Flint.

With his team around him, Arthur, in a precognitive trance, is drawing a sketch of the eclipse. Once he's finished, Arthur looks up and says “It’s coming.”

In Usutu's hut, Hiro eats some of Usutu's paste, and Hiro falls into a trance. He begins to see events that happened in the past.

Eighteen months ago, Arthur is speaking at the Petrelli mansion and is giving thanks to his family members. Linderman comes over and congratulates Angela and Arthur. He then asks Nathan if the rumors are true; if his office is going to launch a full scale investigation on all things Linderman. Nathan replies that he should shave his wrists or the handcuffs will chafe. Linderman asks Arthur what he sees in Nathan. Arthur then looks into Nathan's mind with telepathy and replies "trouble." Linderman asks Arthur what he's going to do about it, and he responds that when father battles son, only one is left standing. He says he'll kill Nathan if he has too. However, he says he owes Nathan one last conversation.

Eight months later, Flint burns some popcorn packets in a convenience store while Meredith steals money from hostages on the floor. Flint notices one hostage still standing and orders him to get down. Meredith tries to tell him to stop, but Flint only further antagonizes the man. The man turns around, revealing himself to be Thompson, and tells Flint that he should have listened to his sister. Flint ignites his flames but Thompson sprays Flint with a fire extinguisher and threatens to taze Meredith. Flint, however, manages to escape.

In his workshop, Gabriel holds a noose in his hand. He stands on a chair and is about to hang himself whilst recalling meeting Brian Davis, killing him, and stealing his power. Gabriel slips the noose around his neck as the door opens and Elle steps in, calling for help. Gabriel kicks the chair away and almost dies, but Elle finds him and severs the noose with a bolt of electricity, saving Gabriel. Elle asks Gabriel if he's alright, and he replies, "Forgive me." He falls unconscious in Elle's arms. Later, Elle tells Gabriel that everything is going to be okay, but Gabriel disagrees, saying that he's done unforgivable things. Elle tries to get him to talk about what he did, but he says he can't. Gabriel says that he wanted something that someone had and took it at a terrible price. Elle reassures Gabriel that he's not a bad person and is just a man who deserves a second chance. Gabriel tells Elle that he doesn't even know her name, and she gives it to him. Gabriel says that she's like an angel, showing up out of nowhere. Elle smiles and corrects him, saying that she's just an angel with a broken watch.

Outside, Elle goes to a Primatech Paper van and meets with Noah. She asks why they can't just bag and tag Gabriel like the others. Noah says that the ability to transfer powers "from one vessel to another is very rare." He says that their orders are to observe Gabriel in his own environment. He suggests that Elle gets Gabriel to demonstrate his abilities by giving him pie.

In a company cell, Thompson talks about the crimes that Meredith has committed. He then says that the Company wants to train her to become an agent. Meredith initially refuses, but Thompson asks why she hates the company so much. Meredith only responds that she has her reasons. Thompson asks her to put her reasons aside and make a sensible decision or risk spending the rest of her life imprisoned. Meredith hesitates, asking Thompson to promise not to go after her brother. Thompson only gives her a choice between being an agent or a prisoner. Relenting, Meredith asks when she starts.

Angela visits Arthur in their garden. Peter is about to graduate from nursing school, and Angela wants to know why Arthur won't go to Peter's graduation party. Arthur scorns Peter's chosen occupation. Angela tells Arthur to be patient with Peter; that he will be a very powerful person when his ability manifests. As Angela leaves, Nathan approaches his father. Arthur suggests he hand off the Linderman case to another ADA so he doesn’t put undue pressure on the Petrelli family. Nathan refuses, assuring his father that nothing will go wrong, and warning that Linderman is toxic for the family. Arthur glares at Nathan as he leaves. Nathan asks what's wrong, but Arthur only remarks that he looks good in a suit.

Later that night, Nathan is driving with his wife Heidi as a van speeds up from behind and begins trying to run them off the road. Nathan struggles to maintain control of the car, but suddenly finds himself flying out of his car seat leaving Heidi in the car alone. Nathan is left suspended in the air, helpless, as his car, with Heidi in it, crashes into some barrels.

Later, Nathan is at the hospital receiving news from the doctor as Peter watches on. Angela and Arthur arrive, and Angela hugs her son. Nathan is outraged to see his father and insists that Linderman’s men ran his car off the road. Peter pulls Nathan away and tries to calm him down, saying that Heidi wants to see him. Nathan warns that he will hurt Linderman and will hurt Arthur if he allies with him. Nathan leaves his father, telling him that he needs to choose a side.

At the Petrelli mansion, Arthur is typing on his laptop as Angela enters. Angela delivers the news of Heidi's injuries. She tries to talk with Arthur about what Nathan said about Linderman. Arthur steadfastly maintains that he didn't order Linderman to kill Nathan.

In Austin, Texas, Thompson and Meredith go to a shantytown and approach Danny Pine, a Vietnam veteran. Meredith asks if she should use her power but Thompson tells her it’s a training mission and she should wait for his orders. Thompson approaches Pine and identifies himself as a representative from the V.A. Pine wonders what happened to his previous V.A. representative and Meredith hastily steps in. Pine doesn’t believe them, turns his hand into solid metal, and knocks Thompson down. Meredith superheats his hand and takes Thompson’s taser, then stuns Pine. Impressed, Thompson welcomes her to the Company.

In Queens, Noah is spying on Gabriel from his van. Gabriel is in his apartment, looking at a map of evolved humans as Elle knocks on his door with a pie. She asks Gabriel if he likes pie. She notices the List and he casually dismisses it. Elle tries to get a look at it but Gabriel throws it in the garbage. Gabriel explains to Elle about his ability. He then demonstrates that telekinesis by moving some dishes and throwing a fork into the sink. He says that the people on the list could do things like that too. Elle tries to learn more, but Gabriel serves himself a piece of pie.

At Primatech, Thompson tells Meredith that she could become an agent in due time, as long as she proves her loyalty and can follow any orders withotu question. He tells her to put Pine in cell 9. Meredith obliges, but on the way, she sees her brother in a Company cell. She is confused, thinking that Flint got away, but he says that an "invisible man" tackled him in an alley and captured him. Flint says that the company's going to train him, just like they're doing to Meredith. Meredith is distressed, and Flint says that they'll be able to work together. Thompson comes and asks the two if there's a problem, and Meredith says no.

Noah watches as Elle and Gabriel have pie and he admits that his power is addictive. He admits that since meeting her he feels he can be normal, but Elle assures him he’s special the way he is. She meets with Noah outside and he sarcastically comments on her fake sympathy. He wants to kick the plan into high gear and make sure they can witness Gabriel killing someone. Elle thinks his suicide attempt was a wake-up call and Noah realizes she likes Gabriel, much to her embarrassment. Noah suggests they set Gabriel up with Trevor Zeitlan and see what happens. When Elle refuses, Noah suggests she go off on her own, and warns that if she doesn’t follow orders then she’ll be on her own.

At the Petrelli mansion, Linderman apologizes to Arthur, saying that he doesn't know how Nathan survived the crash. Linderman proposes to postpone their plans, but Arthur refuses. He offers to find a guy in Montreal to dispose of Nathan once and for all, but Angela overhears their conversation and is shocked. Angela runs away, grabs a kitchen knife, and threatens Arthur with it. Arthur uses telepathy and tries to command Angela to say that Nathan has to die. Angela is unrelenting at first, but is unable to resist Arthur's commands in the end.

In the present-day, Hiro sits up, still in a trance, and utters "Murder!" in Japanese. Ando tries to wake him up, but Usutu tells him not to. Ando says that they need to do something, and Usutu hands him some incense. Usutu says that something has disturbed Hiro's spirit walk and holds the fumes under Hiro's nose, causing him to fall back again.

Back in the past, at Primatech, Meredith comes to Flint's cell and knocks on his window, then opens his cell door. She offers him a way to escape with her, but Flint doesn't want to because the company's being nice to him. Meredith reminds him that their father always told him that God gave him an older sister in lieu of brains.

Later, on a freight train filled with volatile substances, and Meredith says they'll probably have to hide in Mexico. Meredith warns Flint that he can never trust the Company. Thompson emerges from hiding and tasers Meredith unconscious. Flint thinks she’s dead and retreats. Once Thompson has gone after her brother, Meredith wakes up and goes after both of them. She calls out to Flint and Thompson turns back and goes after her. Flint approaches Thompson who prepares to taser him. Meredith struggles with him and Flint jumps off of the train. Thompson asks why Meredith had to screw it up, saying they could have given him a purpose but now Flint is their sworn enemy. Meredith fires a blast at him and runs past, while the cargo ignites. She and Thompson both jump clear of the train just before its contents explode.

Petrelli mansion: Angela is chopping some vegetables as Linderman comes in and remarks that her food smells good. She asks what’s on his mind and Linderman says that he has a shred of morality and can’t stand by while Arthur damages her mind. He offers to heal the scars of all the thoughts and memories that Arthur has tampered with, and warns that Arthur plans to kill Nathan. Linderman places his hands on Angela's shoulders and says that he can heal the scars, and tells Angela that she needs to make a choice between obedience and the truth. After a few moments of thought she moves Linderman's hands to her head, and Linderman proceeds to heal her memory loss.

Thompson and a captured Meredith watch as firemen arrive to deal with the train wreck. Meredith explains that 14 years ago the Company caught up to her and killed her baby daughter Claire. Realizing who Meredith’s daughter is, he frees Meredith and tells her to go before he changes his mind. As Meredith leaves, Claire approaches the burning train wreck below and rescues a fireman.

At Gabriel's apartment, Elle cooks some ziti for dinner with Gabriel. As someone knocks on the door, Elle reveals that she invited another man to join them. Trevor Zeitlan enters and Elle says it’s good that Gabriel meet with others who have powers. Trevor demonstrates his ability to shatter objects by pointing at them and concentrating.

Arthur is enjoying Angela’s family soup recipe and wonders why she seems far away. She asks if he’d know her without his power. The Haitian enters the dining room, neutralizing Arthur’s telepathy as he squirms uncomfortably. She asks him if he can tell if she’s going to kiss him or kill him.

Trevor continues to demonstrate his ability as Elle expresses her admiration. An increasingly jealous Gabriel slams Trevor against a bookcase in anger. Elle shocks him to stop him from hurting Trevor. He throws Elle into the other room and orders her to get out. Gabriel holds Trevor against the wall and telekinetically slices open his head. Elle runs across the street to seek refuge in the van, as Sylar finishes taking Trevor's ability. Shocked at what he did, he runs into an empty room.

Angela wonders when Arthur lost his soul and he refuses to apologize for his great plan. Arthur clutches at his stomach in pain and realizes that the soup is poisoned. He falls to the floor, dying. Angela tells the Haitian to incinerate Arthur’s body but their plans are stopped short when Nathan comes back home. He finds his father on the floor. Nathan assumes his father is having a heart attack and calls the EMTs.

Noah reports to his superiors saying they have wrapped up the mission and he has one more thing to deal with. Elle is still angry but Noah says they’ll be tracking him down one day. Elle feels Gabriel could have been saved but Noah insists that wasn’t the assignment and they follow orders. He sees a cab and leaves Elle, saying that his ride is here. He enters the cab after its previous occupant, Peter Petrelli, gets out. Mohinder is driving the cab and Noah tells him to proceed to JFK Airport.

Angela and Nathan wait at the hospital. Nathan wants to call Peter, but Angela insists that they wait until they have something to call him about. Finally, a doctor comes tells them Arthur is dead due to a heart attack. Angela asks for an immediate cremation and Livitz tells them to go home and get some rest so that they can deal with the paperwork in the morning. Livitz goes back into the Arthur's room. He tells Arthur, who is lying in a hospital bed, that it’s done. Arthur speaks to him telepathically, giving him instructions to find another body for the cremation. Livitz informs Arthur that the poison damaged his nervous system, and that the paralysis is permanent.

At the funeral, Nathan and Peter remember their family dog Izzy, and how it was the only thing that ever disobeyed Arthur. As they speak fondly of their father, Angela says that Arthur wasn't a god and they shouldn't idolize him: he was deeply flawed in ways they’ll never know.

In the present, Hiro wakes up and says they have to warn Angela and Nathan that Arthur is still alive. He also thinks they should contact Meredith to deal with her brother. Ando tells him to slow down and they hear a scream. Running out of the hut, they find Usutu's bloodied and decapitated corpse on the ground, with the head nearby. As he goes to examine it, Arthur appears behind him and remarks that Hiro’s been dreaming about him. He grabs Hiro’s head as he screams in pain as Ando looks on in horror.

Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb get axed

Major shakeup on the staff of NBC’s “Heroes” came down on Sunday with the firing of co-exec producers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander.

Both scribe-producers had been with the show since its first season and have led the day-to-day production operation under the direction of Tim Kring.

It’s rumored that Alexander and Loeb were let go because of NBC execs’ frustration with the creative direction of the show. The show is said to have been grappling with hefty budget overruns this season, that are going well beyond its already sizable $4 million per-episode budget.

Sunday evening, CBR News spoke exclusively with Loeb who said, “As of today, Jesse Alexander and I have left ‘Heroes.’ I’m incredibly proud to have been a big part of the success a show with eight Emmy nods and a win this year for NBC.com. I will miss the superb cast and writing staff and wish everyone the best.”

Loeb has completed writing/producing the fall finale, the last episode of the “Villains” chapter titled “War.”

In Africa, Hiro tells Ando he won’t go back in time to figure out how to defeat the villains, despite the fact the world itself is at stake. Usutu says Hiro must choose his own path, or have it chosen for him.

Mohinder threatens Tracy and Nathan, and Tracy summons her freezing power. Mohinder pleads for one more sample so he can relieve Maya of her power. When they refuse, he leaps over them, rips Maya from her cocoon, and leaves through the skylight.

Peter is sedated and remembering how Nathan told him their father died, and then how he found Arthur alive and drained his powers. He wakes up to find himself handcuffed to a lab table at Pinehearst with Arthur waiting for him. Arthur explains Peter’s powers are gone forever and he’s working for the greater good. Peter says he’s seen the future and Arthur wants him to help so they can prevent that future. Peter insists that he’ll stop Arthur, who tells him he’s grounded.

Claire and Sandra return home and Sandra tries to support Claire, noting she’s proud of how her daughter is handling all of their situations. As they get out of the car, the lights flicker and they go inside to find Lyle unconscious on the floor. Recovering consciousness, he says the “bitch is back", and Claire finds Elle sitting at the computer, electrical arcs spreading from her body. Claire tells her to get out and Elle tries to electrify her but has no success as Claire regenerates the damage instantly. Claire prepares to toss her out and Elle judo throws her to the ground, but Lyle throws a bucket of water on her, short circuiting her powers. Elle apologizes, saying she needs help and she has nowhere else to go.

At Pinehearst, Mohinder considers the unconscious Maya, who is contained in a laboratory. Arthur introduces himself and notes he took deliberate efforts to make sure everyone believed him dead. Mohinder insists he’d do anything to keep his promise and cure Maya of her abilities. Arthur goes in, touches her, and drains her abilities into himself. Arthur looks up, his eyes briefly black before reverting to normal. Mohinder goes into the lab but Maya tells him to stay away. Outside, Mohinder asks if Arthur can take away his abilities, and Arthur wonders if he wants them removed. Arthur then takes him into the lab and shows him the two halves of the formula, and they need Mohinder to take it to the next step. Mohinder is suspicious of their agenda but Arthur tells him to leave if he doesn’t trust them. Mohinder considers it… and then asks for test subjects.

Angela is dreaming of Level 5 and appears in Sylar's mind as he lies in the coma where Peter put him. Sylar insists he belongs there and notes the cell is blocking his abilities, but Angela points out she couldn’t be there if there were the case. She says he doesn’t know what he’s capable of, tells him to rescue Peter, and says for him to make her proud. He concentrates and frees himself from his bonds and breaks the cell door open, then says goodbye to his comatose mother, promising to save Peter.

Elle continues to give off random electricity and explains that she can’t eat or sleep. She tells Claire that Daphne contacted her and said that Pinehearst could help her with her condition, but Elle believes Noah has always known what’s been going on so she came to his house. Claire wonders if they can fix any condition and worries that she may soon stop feeling anything. Elle is less than sympathetic but Claire says they should go together. Elle agrees.

Daphne checks in with Arthur who wants to know why she hasn’t recruited Matt. They wonder if she was thinking something that might discourage Matt from joining. Knox picks up on her fear and she asks how she can fix it. Arthur tells her to kill Matt, much to Maury’s surprise. Maury says he’s promised his loyalty in return for Matt’s safety. When he tries to interfere, Arthur casually snaps his neck using telekinesis, and Daphne insists there must be another way.

Claire prepares to leave and Sandra wants to call Noah. Claire asks that she keep it a secret and Sandra agrees, telling Claire to toss a glass of water on Elle if she’s get out of hand.

Matt tries to get hold of Mohinder from his apartment and opens the door to find Daphne pointing a gun at him. She explains that her employers think she betrayed them and she has to kill him to prove herself. He dares her to shoot but she tells him to turn around. Matt describes their future together, Daphne considers his words… and drops the gun. She apologizes to him and he reads her mind, learning that Arthur killed his father.

Arthur goes to Peter’s chamber to find that he’s freed himself. Peter attacks him but Arthur easily deflects his attack with borrowed telekinesis. They re-restrain Peter and take him to Mohinder’s lab where the doctor prepares to inject him with a new version of the formula to give him powers. Peter says Mohinder warned him not to manipulate powers in the future. To prove his vision, Mohinder asks Peter what he saw of him in the future. Peter confirms that he saw Mohinder transformed into a monster, and Mohinder notes that it’s too late. As Mohinder prepares to give Peter the injection, Sylar arrives and telekinetically throws Mohinder and Dr. Livitz back and starts to free Peter. Mohinder attacks Sylar and knocks him unconscious, while Arthur arrives and tries to stop Peter, who escapes. Arthur then stops Mohinder from beating Sylar, explaining the latter is his son and he’s been waiting a long time to be reunited with him.

Nathan and Tracy consider Mohinder’s cocooned victims and wonder if they can be freed. Mark Spatney reaches out for Tracy, but Meredith and Noah arrive and Noah tasers Spatney unconscious. Meanwhile, Elle and Claire are flying to Pinehearst in New Jersey. Claire wants to hunt down villains and Elle says she has it better off. When Claire reminds Elle that she was responsible for the Level 5 escape, Elle starts to panic, releasing electricity and interfering with the electrical systems. Claire offers her hand to ground the electricity and working together, they keep the plane from crashing.

Daphne is telling Matt what happened and warns they’ll be coming from him. Knox is outside and senses their fear, and breaks in. Daphne tries to run and Knox clotheslines her, audibly breaking her neck. Matt immobilizes Knox and then digs inside his head to find his worst fear. Knox notes that Matt is the one who’s afraid and further enhances his strength, putting his fist through Matt’s chest. Knox considers their bodies and leaves… and the entire mental illusion disappears. Daphne says that they should run but Matt insists on fighting them. Daphne warns it won’t bring Maury back but Matt insists he’s a cop and he deals with lawbreakers like Knox. Daphne says he needs help and Matt suggests they go to Primatech.

Flint seals the building but a captive Sylar warns that Peter has escaped. Arthur doesn’t believe him and says that Angela isn’t what he thinks he is. Arthur says that Angela sent Sylar to rescue her favorite son, Peter, and she’s using Sylar as a disposable weapon. He explains that Angela had a dream when he was born, a dream so terrifying that she tried to kill Sylar. Arthur claims he saved Sylar from drowning and frees him, then offers him his hand.

Peter is still in the building and trying to make his way to the lobby. Mohinder arrives but doesn’t see him, and then goes to confront Maya who is preparing to leave. She warns him to stay away, saying she can never trust him again. Mohinder says his feelings were real but she says what he did in her name was wrong. She plans to make amends for what she has done, and tells him to do the same.

Claire and Elle arrive at Pinehearst and Elle starts discharging electricity again. Elle thanks Claire for taking care of her despite how unpleasantly she treated her. Meanwhile, Peter finds Sylar, who says that Arthur told him the truth. Peter warns that Arthur can’t be trusted but Arthur arrives and says they can change the future that Peter saw. Sylar says that he’s not going anywhere, but Peter is… and telekinetically pushes his brother out the window where he falls seven stories to the sidewalk in front of Claire and Elle. Elle notes that Peter isn’t healing and he explains that Arthur took his ability. Claire tries to get him to the car but Elle insists on going inside so she can get her malfunctioning power removed. As Claire gets Peter away, they both wonder how he survived the fall.

The Company is removing Mohinder’s victims from his lab while Nathan admits that Mohinder injected them with a tranquilizer. Noah wants them to come in to the Company for testing. Nathan takes a call while Meredith warns Tracy to watch out for Nathan. Tracy says they’re not together but Meredith is skeptical. The call is from Claire.

Sylar warns Arthur that Peter won’t give up and Arthur agrees, and then wonders how Peter survived the fall. Sylar claims ignorance and Arthur receives a call… from Daphne. She says she’s convinced Matt she’s on his side. Arthur warns that if she screws it up, he’ll put her back where he found her.

Claire is tending to Peter’s wounds, and he wonders if Sylar covertly broke his fall using telekinesis to maintain his cover as a villain. Nathan and Tracy arrive and Peter explains that he isn’t healing because Arthur took his powers. Nathan is skeptical since he was there at their father’s death, but Peter insists that they have to stop their father before he kills them all. Nathan insists on seeing Arthur against Peter’s advice and Claire gives him the location of Pinehearst. Tracy recognizes the company’s name. Nathan finally agrees with Peter and goes to call the Justice Department to shut the company down. Once Nathan leaves with Tracy, she notes that Nathan plans on going there anyway. He wonders how she knows about Pinehearst and she says that she takes a consulting fee from them and can get them in. Nathan insists that he plans on going there and busting down a few doors.

Usutu is making his precognitive food and explains it is a family recipe that has existed for thousands of years and is used for spirit walking. Hiro is still reluctant to travel back in time but wants to find a way to determine his enemy’s weaknesses. Usutu offers him some of the precognitive food and Hiro unwittingly eats it. Usutu then explains that one goes on a spirit walk by eating the food. Hiro’s eyes turn white and he collapses, and Usutu admits to Ando that he tricked Hiro to force him to accept his destiny.

Zeljko Ivanek to Hunt Heroes in Fugitives

Fans of Homicide: Life on the Streets should be giddy about now, because if you love that show, and you love Heroes, then one of the best character actors out there today who used to work on the former show has just joined the latter show. Or at least, he will be. Zeljko Ivanek, who played A.D.A. Ed Danvers on Homicide: Life on the Streets (and who just won an Emmy for his role in the cable TV show Damages), has been cast on Heroes as the enigmatically named “The Hunter”. What exactly will he be hunting? How about our Heroes? Ivanek will be making his first appearance in Episode 14 of Season 3, the very first episode of the season’s new volume, “Fugitives”, which kicks off a new storyline after the events in the current “Villains” volume.

I’m told that Volume Four will begin in late January or early February 2009, and since it is all about fugitives, the role of the Hunter sounds pretty key, don’t you think? Tommy Lee Jones has nothing on this newbie, from what I hear…

Zeljko Ivanek is not exactly an imposing figure, so my guess is that to make up for the lack of height and physical menace, his character will probably have a power that makes him a formidable foe for the fugitive Heroes he’ll be hunting.

Nathan and Tracy are in bed and Nathan wonders about all the changes in his life. He's happy that God has given him a second chance. He then gets out of bed and goes to the kitchen, where he finds Linderman waiting for him. Nathan believes Linderman is a hallucination but Linderman vaguely assures him that he's not. Linderman claims to have been sent from a higher power to warn Nathan that Tracy was in danger, but Nathan doesn't believe it. Tracy comes out and wonders who Nathan is talking to.

Mohinder is in the park and approaches a drug dealer and asks for something to take the edge off. The drug dealer is leery about getting involved. Mohinder grabs him and says he needs the dealer himself.

Peter grabs Sylar, who taunts him about the fact they're brothers. Peter snaps his neck, then turns to see his mother Angela at the observation window. He telekinetically grabs her and asks what other secrets she's hiding from him besides the fact that Sylar is his brother. He starts to slice open her skull but Sylar heals his neck injury and telekinetically knocks Peter unconscious. Noah Bennet arrives and tells Sylar to come with him because they have a lead on another Level 5 escapee.

Sandra has realized that Claire lied about going to a cheerleading retreat. Meredith arrives and they conclude that Claire is going after the Level 5 escapees. One of the files Sandra has located refers to Stephen Canfield, who can create black-hole vortexes through force of will. Meredith sees a file on Eric Doyle and warns that he's the most dangerous of the lot. She gets Doyle's address from the file and promises to rescue Claire if necessary. Sandra offers to come with her but Meredith notes she has no powers and it's going to be dangerous.

Canfield is at his former home, now empty, on the phone with his sister. She refuses to tell him where his family is. He gets angry and hangs up, and creates a vortex that sucks in small items. Claire comes up behind him by surprise and tasers him unconscious.

Adam reaches up and chokes Hiro, who tries to explain that they need his help. Adam refuses to listen and Hiro stops time to put him back in his coffin. Hiro explains to Ando that they have no choice but to seek out Adam's help. He releases Adam again and explains that they're looking for the missing formula. Adam notes that he told the Company to destroy the formula but they didn't listen. He refuses to cooperate unless they let him ago, but has no choice when Hiro refuses to negotiate. He says that Angela is probably responsible, but Hiro points out he's working for her. Adam suggests that there could be another possibility.

Linderman meets with Daphne at the Pinehearst Company and wants to have her join a new group of special individuals that he's assembling. She agrees as long as she's paid, and he hands her a file containing photos of the people she needs to recruit, like Knox. Daphne is concerned that he's dangerous, but Linderman informs her that all they need is a little guidance.

As they drive to Canfield's location, Noah warns Sylar that he's only working with him on Angela's orders, and Sylar wonders if he'll ever forgive him.

Canfield recovers from the taser and says that he's no killer and that all he wants is a chance to find his family. Claire is unsympathetic and he tells her she has to listen, then creates a vortex to suck away her taser.

Mohinder brings the drug dealer back to his laboratory but is forced to hide his body when Maya comes back. She shows him a "Missing" poster of his neighbor, but Mohinder feigns ignorance. As they talk, she notices a trail of blood left by the drug dealer's corpse. She quickly makes an exit and Mohinder goes into the next room where the neighbor is cocooned to a wall.

Canfield explains to Claire that he only made one mistake, killing a neighbor in an argument. Claire gets a call and Canfield wonders if she's working with the Company. When he realizes she doesn't have a human partner, he asks if she's with Pinehearst. She's never heard of it. He then explains that the Company locked him away with no lawyer and no trial, and no chance to say goodbye to his family. Canfield says that all he wants is a normal life. Sympathizing, Claire offers to help him find his family.

Tracy is leaving Nathan's apartment and clearly something is bothering her. Nathan finally gets her to admit that she killed the Washington D.C. reporter by accident. She wants to turn herself in but he warns that no one will believe her claim, and that he was shot when he tried to go public. He still insists that it was God that brought him back from the dead and gave him his powers. Tracy tells him that she got her powers from experimentation by Dr. Zimmerman.

Claire uses the Company files to locate Canfield's wife and children. He calls his wife and sets up a meeting at the carousel at Griffith Park. As Claire leaves, Canfield's phone goes dead. Noah comes in with his gun at ready and Canfield realizes he's Claire's father. He grabs Claire as Sylar comes in, which shocks Claire. Realizing she didn't try to set him up, Canfield tells her to grab on to something and then creates a vortex. He runs out while the vortex starts to pull in the flooring. Claire tries to hold on to a pipe but loses her grip. Sylar rescues her. The vortex dissipates and Sylar tries to apologize to Claire, realizing what he put her through. Claire refuses to accept his apology and Noah tells Sylar never to talk to his daughter again. He tries to explain that Canfield is dangerous but Claire insists that Canfield is a man who made one mistake. Noah switches tactics and offers to talk peacefully to Canfield so they can make other arrangements.

Adam takes Hiro and Ando to a bar where persons with special abilities can be hired. The bartender, Milosh, is angry at Adam for having an affair with his wife. He throws a punch at Adam and knocks out Hiro by mistake, then chases Adam out of the bar. Ando tries to revive Hiro without success.

Nathan and Tracy go to the Primatech facility where Angela is keeping Peter sedated. She warns that now that Peter has Sylar's ability, they are in serious trouble. She knows about Zimmerman and says they have no way to reverse his experimentation on Tracy. She explains that Zimmerman helped the Company develop a synthetic ability drug and Tracy, Niki, and Barbara were some of his test subjects. She also informs Nathan that his ability to fly came from similar experimentation.

Maya returns to Mohinder's laboratory while he's out and finds the neighbor in the cocoon. She gets up on a chair and tries to free him, but Mohinder returns. She hides underneath a gurney while Mohinder notices that someone was there. She panics and both Mohinder and the neighbor's eyes turn black as her ability kicks in. Mohinder convinces her to stop before she kills them. She calls him a monster and he says he wishes she didn't say that. He then attacks her.

Hiro and Ando try to find Adam without success. As they go down the alleyway, Adam crawls out of a dumpster but Knox renders him unconscious and dumps him into a van. He then makes a call and asks the person at the other end what to do with Hiro and Ando.

Nathan reads the Company files on the synthetic ability experiments. Angela explains that Arthur Petrelli was disappointed that Nathan didn't have the genetic code for special powers, so authorized experimentation to give him flight. Angela apologizes for the experiments on Tracy and says they tried to make amends by splitting the formula in half so no one could recreate it. Now someone has stolen both halves and she wants Tracy to help them get it back. Nathan is furious and leaves, and Tracy goes with him. Outside, Nathan suggests they go to Mohinder for help.

At the lab, Mohinder is cocooning Maya against a wall.

Claire goes to Griffith Park where Canfield is supposed to meet his wife. He tells her that his wife never showed up and that she's afraid of him. He wonders if they're right when they think he's a monster. Noah arrives and points a gun at Canfield's head, then tells him he wants to make a deal: Canfield is free to go if he disposes of Sylar. Claire is furious at her father for abusing an innocent man. Canfield refuses, saying he's not a murderer. Sylar is at the car and starts to notice something is wrong when they argue. As Sylar approaches and Noah gives Canfield one final chance, the escapee says he refuses to become a monster then creates a vortex which sucks himself in.

Hiro and Ando are drinking at the bar and Hiro insists they can't lose heart; the world is depending on them. Ando comments that it can't get any worse. As that is said Daphne and Knox enter the bar. They want to offer Hiro a job. Hiro says they're badasses and wants to sign up. Daphne says that it isn't that easy and that he has to prove himself. Knox takes a sword from the wall, gives it to Hiro, and says he has to kill Ando. Hiro takes the sword, apologizes to Ando (noting some sacrifices have to be made), and stabs his friend.

Noah drives Claire home, explaining that he did what he had to to protect his family. Sylar is in the back and says that Claire finally sees Noah for what he really is; a user who doesn't consider either one of them human beings. Noah asks if Claire understands and she says she does. She goes inside and Sandra greets her, then wonders if Meredith found her. Claire says she doesn't know anything about Meredith.

In a house filled with puppets, Meredith is seated at a table eating spaghetti with Eric Doyle. He controls her every movement, forcing her to eat with him, remain silent, and kiss him.

Angela is in her office when she hears a woman's scream. She goes outside and finds Tracy on the floor, her throat cut. Nathan is there, his skull cut open. Peter staggers down the hallway, a pipe rammed through the back of his head. She turns and a man grabs her and says that her power to see the future is too dangerous and she must die. She insists she'll stop him but he tells her that she won't even be able to move. Angela wakes up from her dream...and finds herself paralyzed.

Daphne superspeed runs to Pinehearst and informs Linderman that she's recruited everyone, including Hiro. She's not happy that she was involved with murder but Linderman notes that some things are necessary. He then tells her there is one more person to recruit: Matt Parkman. Linderman explains what Matt can do and she agrees to find him. However, as she leaves she notes she's fast enough to sneak up on everyone...except Linderman. She waves her hand through Linderman, revealing that he's not really there. He tells her that how he's there doesn't matter. As she superspeeds away, "Linderman" disappears... and Maury Parkman emerges from the shadows.

Maury goes inside Pinehearst and enters a medical chamber. A figure is resting on a bed hooked up to life support equipment. Maury talks to the man and says they're following his orders, and have Adam well in hand. The man on the bed looks up; it's Arthur Petrelli.

What Happened In 'I Become Death'+Video

Is there anyone who didn’t feel a little bit lost with this episode? I’m left with lots of questions and I am definitely confused. The line between good and bad has become even more blurry. At least, now we know Sylar’s real power is. Now let’s take a look at what has happened in this episode.

I’ll start with Mohinder, probably the most stupid scientist that has ever lived on TV universe. Since he has injected himself with the formula, he has totally become a creep and his situation isn’t getting any better. In the future scenes, he becomes even creepier and doesn’t want to show his face.
Tracy pays a visit to his creator, Dr. Zimmerman. He reveals that Niki, Tracy and Barbara are triplets whom separated at birth. He also informs that she got her superpowers by DNA manipulation, not at birth. This leaves us with the question are there any other heroes that we know who got powers with the help of Company. Later on she attempts suicide but Nathan flies and saves her. Now both are aware of each other’s power, they kiss and cuddle and in the future we see them as a couple.

The rift between Ando and Hiro grows. Still, Ando helps Hiro to escape from the cell but Haitian captures and takes them to Angela. She asks about the formula. When Hiro tells her that he has lost it, she sends them to get the key to solve the mystery behind formula. The key is Adam Monroe, who wasn’t happy to see Hiro once again.

Let’s come to the hard part. Last week, Future Peter took off with Present Peter. He takes them to the future where anyone can purchase abilities and the line between right and wrong is blurry. Peter –both future and present- seems to be on one side while Claire, Knox, Daphne and Haitian on the other one. Claire Clan aims to kill Peter whom they call a ruthless murderer. On the other hand Peter wants to form an army with people who have abilities. At their first encounter, Claire manages to kill Future Peter which I though was impossible since Peter has her power and she’s IMMORTAL. Present Peter escapes and visits Sylar.

Sylar is living happily with his son Noah at the Bennet house. He acts friendly towards Peter. Peter, with all his confusions, asks Sylar about his power and tells him that he needs to get it in order to save the world. Sylar warns Peter about the hunger he feels, and consequences of his power. Now we know what Sylar can really do, to understand how things work. Since Peter and Sylar are brothers, they both have a similar ability. Does this mean Nathan got his ability after he was born? His power isn’t anything like the other two.

While they were exchanging powers, Claire, Knox and Daphne barge in. Sylar doesn’t seem to have a side but Claire definitely holds a grudge against him. During the battle Knox kills Noah; Sylar goes atomic, explodes and kills 200,000 people.

Somewhere between these events, we learn that Daphne is the woman from the drawings that Matt saw in Africa. In the future they are married with a child. Molly also lives with them. After Daphne escapes from the explosion, she goes back home to Matt, and dies in his arms. (Another drawing from previous episode.

Peter and Claire also survive and Claire tortures Peter for every single person that has died because of the explosion. Nathan comes in and stops her. Nathan understands that Peter doesn’t trust him, so he asks Peter to read his mind. While doing so, things get out of control and Peter gives into the hunger and becomes the monster he always thought Sylar was. Btw, after Haitian leaves the room Peter can use all his powers, but he can’t heal? Why didn’t the scars immediately disappear? That was kind of silly.

Back in the present day, Matt wakes up from his future dream and starts following a turtle as his spirit totem that will guide him to change the future. Really, a turtle? Does this mean Matt’s stay in Africa will become Hiro’s boring Japan story arc? I hope not because I really really like Matt and his ability is too cool to be spent at a desert.

Angela Petrelli speaks affectionately with Sylar, who has just learned that she is his mother. She presents him with a girl named Bridget with the ability to see a person’s entire past and allows Sylar to kill her to take her ability.

HRG shows up at the Company facility for the sole purpose of recapturing the Level 5 escapees. Angela can’t let him be partners with the Haitian because he’s on an assignment for her, so she introduces HRG to his new powered partner: Sylar. HRG is obviously opposed to working with Sylar, especially since Sylar's recent attack on Claire, though Sylar rationalizes that since Claire can’t die, she was never in any danger. Angela says Sylar is just misunderstood and needs some structure. HRG has no real choice but to team up with the devil he knows.

The escapees from Level 5 decide to rob a bank. Knox, who feeds off people’s fear, is the leader, while Flint (who generates fire) and the German (whose ability is similar to that of the Marvel Comics villain, Magneto) are the muscle. That leaves Jesse, the villain Peter is stuck inside.

The police show up, which is Knox’s plan because he wants the Company to arrive so he can exact revenge on HRG, aided by the power he’s getting from the scared hostages. The plan works, as HRG and his new partner see the robbery on the news. Sylar and HRG, both in suits, arrive, but HRG tells Sylar to stand back and do nothing. Instead, Sylar takes charge by posing as an FBI agent.

Peter tries to talk Knox out of it, but Knox uses simple trickery to uncover that this guy isn’t the real Jesse. HRG enters and the hostages leave. Knox has him pinned down, but Peter gets upset and yells, revealing Jesse’s power is a super sonic scream.

Emboldened, he yells and knocks everyone down, but time freezes because Future Peter has arrived. He walks up to Jesse and pushes regular Peter out. Future Peter teleports Regular Peter away, leaving HRG stuck with the real Jesse. Sylar arrives just in time for the new partners to neutralize the Level 5 Four. Sylar locks HRG out of the bank and, though HRG tries to talk him down, Sylar can’t fight his killer hunger, so he performs some quick brain surgery on Jesse. They return to the Company, and while Angela still thinks there’s hope for Sylar, HRG tells the Haitian he’s sticking around just long enough to learn Sylar's weakness, then kill him.

Hiro tracks Daphne to Berlin. She tells him the first half of the Formula has already been delivered, and she’s at the theater to intercept the second half. Hiro wonders how his nemesis can be so overly confident that she’ll tell him her plan. “You’re 0 for 2 against me, Pikachu” Daphne explains. “That’s just regular confidence.” Suddenly she slows down, but Hiro’s powers are also gone. Hiro sees the Haitian holding a briefcase and recognizes him from the future, giving him an advantage over Daphne.

Inside the theater where the exchange is supposed to take place, Daphne interrupts and tries to turn Ando against Hiro, which Hiro describes as “Villainy 101.” She tells them she’s just doing this because some guy is paying her. The Haitian meets up with a woman and explains Angela wants her half of the Formula closer to home due to the recent events.

Hiro and Ando hatch a plan where Ando is supposed to play an usher, but instead Ando hits the Haitian over the head and knocks him out. Ando expresses a reluctance to continue playing the "sidekick" to Hiro, reflecting the doubts Daphne had just been trying to exploit. While the Haitian is knocked out, Daphne speeds by and takes the briefcase. Hiro tries to stop time, but the Haitian is awake again, and upset. By the end of the episode, Hiro and Ando are incarcerated in Level 5.

Matt Parkman is still in Africa, getting a lesson in spirit journeys from his guide, Usutu, who paints the future like Isaac Mendez. Parkman sees many paintings showing scenes from his life that have already happened, as well as one that has not yet come to pass: a happy scene in which Matt and a blonde woman are holding a baby. However, Usutu begins painting over this and replacing it with a new picture, telling Parkman his future has been changed. In the new picture, Matt is crying and holding the blonde woman's dead body.

At the Bennet house, Claire’s two mothers Sandra and Meredith face off on how best to raise their mutual daughter. Biological mom Meredith agrees to let Claire skip school that day in order to train her to fight. Meredith drags her daughter into an empty storage container and the lesson begins by setting it all on fire, sucking the oxygen out of the room. Claire begs her to stop, but Meredith persists until Claire confesses she wants to learn to fight not to help people, but to hurt Sylar.

Nathan shows up at Tracy’s place wondering why she missed his swearing-in ceremony as the junior senator from New York. She’s still disturbed by her newly discovered icy powers and her connection to Niki Sanders. Tracy has an address in New Orleans, so she goes to figure it out. Once there, Tracy visits a funeral home and opens a casket to see a dead Niki inside.

She runs into Micah, who instantly recognizes that Tracy is not his mother. Micah and Tracy talk about their powers, and Micah uses his ability to talk to machines to search the Internet and learn that Tracy and Niki were born on the same day in the same hospital, both delivered by the same man, Dr. Zimmerman. She tracks him down in California, and learns that not only does he know her, but he created her.

Heroes regains at least some of its cliffhanging mythology mojo in Monday night's NBC season premiere, "The Second Coming."

Brimming with dank cinematography, deadly earnest acting -- the fate of the world is still hanging in the balance, after all -- and at least two genuine WTF? moments, the Season 3 opener hopscotches full speed toward a dark destiny rife with betrayal, collapsing cities and reversals of fortune.

The heroes' dysfunctional relationships that were spelled out in previous years add depth for longtime fans, but new viewers -- and first-season loyalists who quit watching during the NBC series' wayward second year -- should be able to grok the basics quickly enough.

At its best, Heroes treats serialized sci-fi storytelling like a page-turning comic book. Empowered with whiplash story twists, reasonably good visual effects and the struggle against a dense conspiracy determined to bring the world as we know it to an end, the show's superheroes feel cursed, rather than blessed, by their gifts. When the machinery is humming, the real kick comes in watching ordinary people handle their extraordinary responsibilities.

And this season, as always, one thing is certain. The future looks bleak.

Season 3 begins four years in the future and races through a where-are-they-now status update.

"The Butterfly Effect," the second show of Season 3, immediately follows "The Second Coming." That episode was not available for review, but it's a sure bet that the heroes' predicament will get a helluva lot worse before it gets better. And that's a good thing.

Heroes version 3 may not offer the thrill of discovery that hooked fans during the show's first season. Despite the often ponderous dialogue and gloomy score, Heroes deploys brute storytelling force to prompt in the view a need to find out what happens next. Quoting from a W.B. Yeats poem, Suresh mournfully wonders, "What rough beast slouches toward Bethlehem?" For the answer to that question, we'll keep watching.

After the second season suffered ratings-wise and ended early because of the Writers Guild strike, the hit show will return on US screens on September 22 with the first two hours of a shock-a-minute volume titled Villains, and introducing six new characters.

Creator Tim Kring says that the third season is bigger and better than ever before.

He told TV Guide: "I've aggressively adrenalised the storytelling. We're moving very quickly and revealing a lot of secrets and surprises on night one - the kinds we would have saved until episode seven or eight in the past."

And he reveals that viewers will find out more about the backgrounds of their favourite characters.

"For everything we're giving away, there are more intense revelations coming quickly down the road - especially about the true nature of these special abilities. In the past, we've posited various theories," he added.

"Do these powers have a basis in science? Are they evolutionary? A gift from God? And how are all these people connected? This season, we're going to reframe those questions and take a turn that's really unexpected."

today, Kristin from E! Online provided us with a couple of interesting tidbits in her most recent post about the characters of Matt and Tracy.

If you have seen the promos and previous spoilers, you will know Matt is stuck in the middle of the desert. It seems like he will meet and African bushman with powers to paint the future like Issac. Apparently Matt will learn that in the future everyone will fly. This hints that humans will evolve or perhaps Mohinder's super serum does get out and everyone gains an ability to fly.

Kristin also hints at Tracy' potential power hinting she might kill a reporter (William Katt) by accident and then hints she might be Niki's twin. After one of the most recent sneak peeks we see Tracy open a coffin and see herself or Niki in it, thus pretty much confirming a storyline about twins or a time line crossed.

Well here is the full report, what do you think this all could mean??

Nathaniel in Washington, D.C.: What can you tell me about Heroes' future?

Let's see...Matt Parkman's (Greg Grunberg) future is drawn for him by an African bushman, and in the world's future, the sky is full of people who can fly. It'll be just like The Jetsons! Except, you know,no flying contraptions needed. This is a future I'm looking forward to 'cause the traffic on the 405 is killing me.

Emma in Cedar Rapids, Iowa: Can you tell me anything more about Ali Larter's character's powers on Heroes?

You know the reporter played by William Katt of Greatest American Hero who confronts "Tracy Strauss" (Ali Larter) with evidence that she's actually "Niki Saunders"? Well, there's a reason he's only in one episode, and that reason is that someone kills him by accident. (Wait a minute, could Ali be playing a character with a lethal power? Noooo!) Also, after Tracy begins to believe the reporter might be
right about her real identity, she sets off to find the doctor who delivered her, in hopes that he can tell her more about her origins. She finds out at summer camp she has an identical twin, and they set off on a mischievious but adorable mission to get their parents to reunite. Or wait, that last sentence may have been from another story.

Of all the colorful characters on television today, not many have rose to pop culture royalty as quickly as the character of Sylar, the big baddie of NBC's fan-favorite show Heroes. This is due in large part to the work of the actor who portrays him, Zachary Quinto.

The success of Sylar is no small feat when you consider that Quinto didn't even appear in "Heroes" as the brain-dissecting, super-powered serial killer until episode eight of the first season. Since then, Quinto's joined the regular cast and has been the breakout star of the show. Next summer, he will be seen on the big screen in another iconic sci-fi role, taking over for the legendary Leonard Nimoy as the USS Enterprise's Science Officer, Mr. Spock, in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek."

With fans' anticipation for the film growing by the week and the new season of "Heroes" -- entitled "Volume Three: Villains" -- beginning on September 22, CBR News caught up with the busy star to talk about "Heroes," what's next for Sylar, and what it's like to go from killing heroes to wearing the famous Vulcan's pointy ears.

CBR: Did you have any idea, when you took the part of Sylar, how important the character would be to overall story of "Heroes?"

Zachary Quinto: Absolutely not. I don't think there is any way to predict how things are going to go. But as colorful as this show's been for all of us involved and for the audience, when you get involved in it, it's something that sort of takes you by storm a little bit. There's really no way to predict it and obviously I'm most grateful that it did happen. But I had no way of telling when I signed on.

In what ways do you think your theatre training prepared you for the role of Sylar?

I feel really grateful to come from a theatre background because it sort of solidified my relationship to the work from a little bit of a different perspective. There are a lot of actors that come from a theatre background. So many of my friends actually working in Los Angeles now got those jobs that brought them to L.A. [while working] in New York. So for me personally, I feel like my training allows me to look at things from more than one perspective. It allows me to have a little bit more of an oversight. I understand where a character lives in my body, where a character lives in my voice, and then how to modify those understandings to fit the format that I'm working in.

I remember when I was in school teachers would always argue about whether there was a different technique applied to television and film than is applied to theatre. I think there definitely is. I think that coming from a theatre background, it allows me to sort of bring things down rather than going from a small medium to a large medium. It's much easier to fill whatever size of screen your working on, if you can fill a seven hundred-seat theatre. For me, that training gave me a really great base from which to work and I continue to learn about the technique and the tools that are necessary to work in television and film. I feel really fortunate to continue to have these experiences that teach me those new lesions.

Did you ever think that you would have a career so strongly rooted in the science fiction genre?

I never imagined that my experience would lead me so deeply into the comic book and science fiction world as it has. Again, it's something that I'm incredibly grateful for. Harkening back to the question about my training, it makes sense when you look at it from that perspective. I think there is something very theatrical about those worlds. Obviously the world of "Heroes" is incredibly heightened and there's something very theatrical about it. While I never really expected it, it doesn't necessarily surprise me now that I've become emerged in it.

It also has a really excited group of fans, so I feel like that's something else that is an added bonus to the whole thing. It's probably the most ardent group of people that you could ever be working for, in terms of fans and their enthusiasm for the stories that you're telling. So I'm happy to be here. I definitely look forward to exploring other areas of storytelling, but I'm so grateful hat this one has brought me to a point where I'll be able to do that.

Can you talk about how "Heroes" helped you get your role in "Star Trek?"

This whole year for me has been a blur of good fortune and there was very little of it done by design. I feel like my experience on "Heroes" and the world in which it's rooted lent it's self to the attention that led me to be part of the movie. I don't really think of it in terms of how I use "Heroes" to get movie roles or how I use "Heroes" to get other jobs, I feel like I remain as grateful to be on "Heroes" now as I did when I first started. It's so fulfilling, creatively and professionally.

I think you can't get ahead of yourself because no amount of success, exposure or opportunity is going to really matter, or be ultimately fulfilling unless you can be totally present in what your doing right now. That's sort of the way that I've gone from one thing to another. There were so many fortuitous moments that lined up in almost a magical way that you could never even begin to conceive it, unless it was happening to you. Also it helped out that the timing of the movie happened during the Writers Strike. So I feel like I couldn't be in a better spot and I couldn't be happier to be where I am.

What are some of the differences in playing Spock as opposed to Sylar?

I think there are elements of the characters that echo each other but I think they echo each other from very opposite ends of the spectrum. Each of the characters employ a stillness and a sort of a rich internal point of view that informs the way they behave and the way they relate to people around them. It's great fun to have characters that are rich, full of challenges and full of rewards. Both of these characters are clearly that. So as an actor, I don't really approach a character as whether or not he's good or bad. I just approach a character by looking for where it lives in me. And I think for numerous reasons both of these characters find very different life in me. Both of these characters are very contained and very controlled.

For me, it was like coming home when I came back to work on "Heroes" after going away on a new and uncharted experience. The movie was different for me because of the scale and size of the franchise and the iconic nature of the character I was stepping into. There was a tremendous sense of completion when I finished the film and a tremendous sense of familiarity when I came back to work on the show.

What's your approach to playing Sylar this year and how are the scripts that you've seen for Season Three?

I think that the scripts for this season are just more exciting, more action packed and more dynamic than ever. I think they just keep getting better. You know, every time I open a script it's really a thrill. In terms of my approach, it is always the same in whatever I'm working on. It's to serve the text. I think we're really fortunate to work with incredibly creative, imaginative and consistent writers that bring surprise to the scripts. Sometimes when I open a script for Season Three, it's just hard to keep track of exactly where I'm going. There are so many different aspects of this character's experience that are drawn upon this year. So my approach really is to just sort of serve that and keep track of it at the same time. I think people will see what I mean as the season unfolds.

In the episodes for the third season that you've shot so far, how has Sylar developed and what are some of the acting challenges for you?

Well, this is the longest time I've spent playing one character on a show and I think there are unique challenges that go along with that. The idea of being on a show and playing a character in an open-ended kind of way, especially in the serialized nature in which we tell our stories, is very exciting for me. So for me, this character grows and evolves in so many ways this season. I think this season, he is put into situations and he is in some ways manipulated to employ kind of restraints against his instincts and impulses that we've never seen him have to employ before. And that's really been a fascinating journey for me as well as equally challenging.

There are certain aspects of this character in particular that people respond to and people sort of come to expect. There are a lot of unexpected turns this year for my character. Every time I open a script, there's just a different kind of challenge, whether it's a physical challenge in terms of a fight sequence, a stunt sequence, a special effect sequence or an emotional challenge he's coming up against in himself or coming up against outside of himself with the people that he's interacting with. I think the tapestry for that has been incredibly rich this year for my character in particular so it's been a ride for sure.

Would you like to see more of Sylar's past explored in future episodes and how evil would you like to see him get?

I'd be interested in learning as much about Sylar's background as the writers' see fit. We do go there again this year, at a certain point we'll revisit shades of that character as you first saw him. As far as how evil I want him to get, I feel like Sylar's evil is rooted in a great humanity, in a lot of smallness and a feeling of sort of emptiness. So I don't really look at it as how evil can he possibly get, I sort of look at it as, what he has in front of him and the choices that he makes in order to cease his opportunities. He's constantly, constantly wrestling with his desire to feel special, his desire to feel valid and the desire to feel viable. So I feel like those are the ways that I come at it, rather than thinking of him as evil because that is really just a means to an end.

Do you think that Sylar could ever be a good guy? What would have to occur for that to happen and do you think it would be fun for you to play the hero?

It goes back to what I was saying before about this character, I don't really look at him as absolutely good or bad. I think that he is constantly walking a line of ambiguity within himself and uncertainty within himself that defines the way he acts and the way he behaves. So I feel like there are colors of this character that are possible, that are maybe a little less violent and a little less dark than we've seen from him in the past. As long as it's rooted in a connection to the character's psychology because that's what's fun for me. I have nothing but faith in the fact that, that will always be the case no matter where the character is taken on the show and that's certainly been true so far this season.

With the new characters that were added last season and more new ones coming this year, is there ever a fear as an actor that you won't have enough to do?

I think our show does a remarkable job of tracking all the characters, sort of bringing them back around to one another and dovetailing the stories to each other. You know, for a cast as large as ours, I think all of my fellow actors would agree each of us gets a significant amount to chew on in all of the episodes we're in. There's never a feeling that one storyline is suffering in favor of another.

The first episode of "Volume Three: Villains" was premiered at Comic-Con this year. What was it like to be there and see the fans' reactions to it and how does what fans think about the show influence your work?

That's kind of a double-edged sword in a lot of ways because we are creating in a vacuum. We are relying on each other and relying on our instincts creatively as actors, as well as writers. I know for myself and my cast-mates, being at Comic-Con, sharing [with the fans] their experience for the first time with this volume and having sixty-five hundred people or however many there were in that hall, was incredible. It was exhilarating to see their response to it and be a part of their reaction. We all do really value that aspect of it too because we know that's why we do what we do, because people are responding as adamantly as those fans did.

Finally, it's been revealed that Sylar will clash with Elle this season. What kind of battle can fans expect and how did you enjoy filming those scenes with Kristen Bell?

Well, I just love Kristen all around. I love working with her. I love hanging out with her and I think she has a really great energy. She's a phenomenal actress, so anytime I get to work with her is a good time. Yeah, we have an epic battle. Some things go down that definitely have some specials effects elements to it. As well as there are some stunt elements and it's both personal and epic.

Sylar Past Revealed

Here are some of the latest details from TV Guide.

Serial killer Sylar will return this season to Heroes during its highly anticipated two-hour premiere. But, will we see more of his pre-evil alter ego, Gabriel Gray?

According to Zachary Quinto, he'd love to see as much of Sylar's background as possible. He confirmed that Gray will return this season, revisiting the "shades of that character as you first saw him."

The first time we learned of Sylar's past was in the first season's episode "Six Months Ago" in which Chandra Surresh tells watch repairman Gray that he may have super powers. When Gray learns of his real power, which is stealing other people's abilities, he uses them to kill off other "heroes." Surresh figures out Sylar's killing streak and becomes one of his victims.

In "Volume 3: Villains," creator Tim Kring intimates that by using Gray, the show will continue to "peel the layers off of that onion as long as this character exists on the show."

Sylar's Baby and The Petrelli's

Kristin from E! Online answered a couple of more fan questions for her weekly spoilers report and confirmed that Sylar does indeed have a baby in the future. She speculates that she thinks it is Elle, but did not confirm it.

Also, once again she confirms that the Petrelli DNA has traveled around this show more than we know and that the Peter and Nathan will have two more relatives revealed and both are big shocks. One is earlier in the season, while the second shock will be later. In a previous report, Kristin did say that their father Arthur did not count in the two. Adam!? HRG!? Who else could be walking around with Petrelli DNA!?

My guess is still on Sylar being one of the two new relatives and she did eliminate Ali Larter. So who could this other relative be!? Is it Elle!? We did have rumors last season that Elle and Claire will eventually be revealed as sisters.

Season Three Episode 4 Title Change

Just a little note that the team over at SpoilerTV has learned the title for Episode 3x04 of Heroes will be called "I am Become Death".

Now the title itself seems quit confusing and the previous rumored title was "The Year of Our Lord."

So I just wanted to make a mention in case it is officially changed. We will of course keep you all informed is we get any additional updates.

Kristin from E! Online released her most recent video with some new scoops including a few for Heroes. As we know with the season titled Villains, Kristin confirmed that some of the "good" Heroes will be bad and some of the "bad" one will be good.

However, she did have a couple of new tidbits:

1) Future Claire works for The Company to help stop people with superpowers.
2) We will see two new characters that share Patrelli DNA. In her post she confirms that Arthur Patrelli is NOT one of the two.

To those who just can't wait to see the episode, you can read what happened in the first-hour shown at the comic-con.

HEROES SEASON 3 - CHAPTER ONE - "THE SECOND COMING"

Open on Future Peter (with scar), running. He runs into a car park where he is faced with Claire. She looks very different to the Claire we know. She has a gun trained on him and a caption reads 'Four Years In The Future'.

He explains that he's going back 'to the day they all found out', but she keeps the gun trained on him. She fires and he stops the bullet in mid air, slowing down time. He takes the gun and as time restarts Claire stands there shocked.

Caption - Present Day

We see Peter with the gun, heading towards the hall where Nathan is making his announcement. Peter pushes to the back of the crowd and fires two shots straight into Nathan's chest. Nathan goes down and Matt runs to the back of the hall to find the assassin. Future Peter runs into a store room and stashes the gun before running back out in the hall and heading for the exits. Present Peter runs after him but does not see his face. Cut to Matt entering a bathroom to find Present Peter holding the black hat and rucksack of the assassin. He says the man got away and that he didn't see his face.

Cut to Claire at home in Costa Verde watching the events unfold on TV. She dials her phone.

Cut to Peter answering Claire's phone in the ambulance. He says they are taking him to hospital and Claire offers to help but she is too far away.

In the hospital the doctors work to save Nathan, shocking him. Tim elapses and Peter is waiting. The doctor comes out and says 'I'm sorry'. Nathan is dead. Peter kisses him, and moments later Nathan wakes. He's alive.

Cut to Hiro at Yamagato Industries. He is behind his desk making the clock go back and forth. Ando enters and they talk about how bored Hiro is with no destiny to follow. A knock at the door and a man delivers a DVD message from Kaito.

Cut to Claire watching the TV. She makes a decision and throws some clothes in a bag. As she opens her room to leave, who is there but Sylar! He says that he's not completely healed and that he wants her power. She knocks him out with a cheerleading trophy and runs, but he uses telekinesis to trap her in the house. Claire hides in a cupboard as Sylar rattles the handle from outside.

Cut to Maya. She is also watching a door handle rattle, but it's Mohinder and she almost smacks him with a cricket bat, thinking it is Sylar returning. Mohinder has put Molly on a plane and says she should be safe. Maya asks about her examination and when she can be cured. Mohinder says that he has no idea and is going back to India. Maya gets upset and starts to manifest her powers. She controls it and he realises that the powers are linked to the adrenal gland and the fight or flight response.

Cut to Yamagato Industries. Hiro watches as Kaito says that there is a safe with very important contents, but that Hiro should never open it.

Hiro opens the safe anyway and finds an envelope and a note which says 'Press play'. He presses play on the tape and Kaito says 'I told you not to open the safe!'. Kaito says that the envelope contains one half of an important written formula. He also says that one of the heroes is special and carries 'the light'. Hiro holds the formula but something takes it away. He stops time and follows speed tracks in the air to a blonde girl who asks him how he can do that. She has the formula and knocks Hiro out, getting away.

Cut to Present Peter, he is looking for the stashed gun but Parkman has beaten him to it. Matt tries to read his mind but can't. Present Peter morphs into Future Peter and tells Matt that he's seen too much. He touches Matt and he disappears.

Nathan awakes in hospital and sees his suit hanging on the door. He walks out of the hospital right into a news reporter. The reporter and Future Peter follow Nathan to a church where he proclaims on camera that his recovery is God's work. Future Peter holds Nathan as they both kneel at the altar.

Cut to Mohinder concocting an experiment under the microscope. He and Maya have a moment as he explains that he may be able to isolate the building blocks of the heroes powers. He says that with the information he has he can give super powers to anyone.

Cut to Claire and Sylar. While she is locked in the cupboard he finds the Level 5 file of Knox and other detainees and takes them, calling it a 'shopping list'. Claire sneaks behind him and stabs him in the chest. She runs but Sylar traps her against the wall and starts to open up her forehead. Cut to Claire lying on a table with her scalp missing. Sylar has his hands in her brain, poking around. He says that the human brain would give up so many secrets if it was used to its full capability. "Why does evil exist? How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? How do we make love stay?"

Claire asks "Are you going to eat it?" Sylar answers "Eat your brain? Claire, that's disgusting." He finds what he's looking for, we hear a click and he stands up. He pulls the knife from his chest and we see him heal. He has Claire's power. He walks away but thinks twice and picks her scalp up from the floor, replacing it. She asks "What about me? Aren't you going to kill me?" He replies that her brain is different than all the others and that he couldn't kill her even if he wanted to. He says that she can't die, "and now I guess neither can I!"

Cut to Mohinder. He explains again that he has done what his father never could and has identified the genetic makeup of the heroes' abilities. Maya is upset that he can't heal her and tells him he must destroy the syringe with the power-giving abilities.

Cut to Nathan and Peter, they are talking at his bedside. Nathan says "We can be angels, all here to do God's bidding". He says that there couldn't be angels if everyone knew about them, so he will not reveal the secrets of their abilities. Peter leaves, saying that he hopes one day Nathan will understand why he shot him. Mr Linderman appears - it was him who healed Nathan. He says that both of them have important work to do.

Cut to a governor watching TV. He calls out to a woman called Tracey who enters, it is Nikki/Gina/Jessica. He says "I think we found our man". He is watching Nathan on TV. She says "I like him".

Matt Parkman wakes up in the desert with a scorpion on his face. He stands and looks around but there is no-one and nothing for miles.

Hiro says that he must teleport to the future to see the significance of the formula being stolen. In the future he sees chaos, people running and screaming. Then he sees Ando and himself arguing over the formula. Hiro raises his sword and Ando blasts him with electricity! Ando takes the formula and runs. The city implodes and debris flies everywhere. Hiro comes back to the present and tells Ando that they have to find the formula.

Mohinder stands on the docks with the syring in his hand. He is about to throw it into the water but at the last minute changes his mind and injects himself. He spasma and collapses.

Angela is at the hospital watching over Nathan. She sees Peter and asks "What have you done with my son?" She reveals that her power is predictive dreams and that it was the first one that Peter used. She tells Peter that what he did has started a new chain of events and that he has screwed up everything by shooting Nathsn. She again asks ''What have you done with my son?".

Cut to Level 5 at the company. The man we saw as Knox on the Level 5 files that Sylar has is yelling "I'm not who you think I am! I'm Peter Petrelli". We see other detainees, included a man who is blasting electricity at the glass, and Noah Bennet, who is bouncing a ball against the glass.

Cut to Mohinder. Two muggers approach him and take his watch. They demand money and when he doesn't answer one pulls a gun on him. Mohinder grabs the gun and twists it, breaking the mugger's fingers. He then stands, picking up the other mugger and throwing him through the air. He chases the muggers as they run off into the night, then stops, looking at his hands.

NBC's most recent press release for Heroes provided us with the full official episode description and cast lists.

The two hour premiere will consist of two separate episodes and episode 2's official title "The Butterfly Effect" was originally rumored to be the title for episode 1.

Episode 3x02 is really setting up to be very interesting as the press release claims a big battle between Sylar and Elle as Sylar attacks The Company and gets a handful at Level 5.

Also note worthy is the cast lists with various guest cast members, including Micah, who has yet to be seen in any promo or spoiler.

Is it possible that one of television’s most sinister villains is going soft? You would think so from listening to Zachary Quinto -- who plays the evil Sylar on NBC’s “Heroes” -- talk about what fans can expect from his character in the forthcoming season, entitled “Villains,” which begins September 22nd.

“There’s a softer side to my character in this episode,” said Quinto.

The episode to which the actor is referring is the fourth of the popular show’s third season, and will feature another glimpse into a possible future for the expansive cast of characters.

CBR News recently visited the set of the hit show and spoke to Quinto about his character, the series, and a few interesting surprises that fans can look for.

“This is an alternative sort of reality,” explained Quinto of the episode he was shooting. “As our show does and has done in the past, you catch glimpses of time that may or may not actually come to fruition but are possibilities. Episode nineteen of Season One was called ‘Five Years Gone,’ and that whole episode was based on that premise. This episode has elements of that and my character is involved in those elements.”

Quinto, who was dressed very “un-Sylar,” wearing Khakis and a button-down shirt, had his hands covered in paint for the scene. “There is a little bit of painting that happens in this scene as well,” he said. “Because I am put in a position to prove something to myself in this scene and I employ my old stand-by ‘paint the future’ power in order to do that.”

In this episode’s glimpse at a possible future, our favorite villain is living a pretty normal life. Quinto explained, “What was the Bennet house is now inexplicably my house.” He also went on to drop this bombshell, “My son’s name is Noah. Isn’t that interesting?” That’s right -- Sylar has a son in the future and he named him Noah!”

Quinto would not say who his son’s mother is, but when asked if the spawn of Sylar inherited any of his father’s powers, he did have something to share. “My son actually is a gifted child. He’s very subdue and cool both as an actor and a character.”

Although Sylar may be different in the future, it sounds like fans can expect “present day” Sylar to be up to his old tricks. “There’s no softer side there,” joked the actor. “The great thing about my character this year is that he’s all over the map. In terms of his internal conflicts, the orders that he is given by certain people that have power over him this season and the situations that puts him in, it really forces him to employ a kind of restraint that you haven’t seen him necessarily need to employ before.”

Of the new season, “Villains,” Quinto said, “It’s the most fun I’ve had on the show so far. That’s hard to say actually because the first season was amazing and last year was really exciting too, but it feels like it’s emerging unto itself.”

“Heroes” employs a hectic shooting schedule that involves filming scenes from several episodes at the same time. “Right now I’m doing [episodes] two, four, eight and nine,” stated Quinto. When asked if shooting simultaneous episodes of a show known for jumping around its timeline is difficult, the actor was hopeful. “So far so good, but we’ll see.”

Finally, Quinto shared his feelings on returning to the show after last year’s writers strike cut the second season short. “I think that the time we had away from the show really made all of us that much more grateful to come back and that much more excited,” he said. “It’s been so long since we’ve been on the air. All of us are just really a hundred percent committed to what we’re making this year. The response that we got at Comic-Con was so exciting and so enthusiastic that we’re really excited to carry that into the rest of the season with us.”

Heroes Spoilers From Kristin

During her weekly spoilers post, Kristin from E! Online answered a few fan questions about Heroes and provided us with some details for Season 3.

The only new thing revealed was that a "popular" character's dad's head will separated from his spine!? Who this is, I have no idea, but to think possibly Matt's dad Maury?

Kristin also confirmed a couple of thing we did know, that Nathan sees Linderman first and that Tracy Strauss is Niki's new character. She did provide some more info on Tracy, but nothing to interesting.

Is Tracy connected to Niki? Well, a reporter sure thinks that the nekkid pictures of "Niki" on the Internet are not just a case of mistaken identity. Also, when we pick up the story, Tracy is angling to get Nathan Petrelli a pretty good government job. There has to be a tie between Niki and Tracy in there somewhere, and if you want to know exactly how, email Mr. Linderman, because he knows, and I think he might be the mastermind behind the whole switcheroo...

Seth Green and Breckin Meyer Set to Join the Cast

As reported a few days ago by EW's Ausiello, two new characters that love comic books will be joining the cast. Well today, Ausiello is reporting that it is the duo responsible for Robot Chicken, Seth Green and Breckin Meyer, that will play those two new characters.

Here are the details:

Heroes is getting its very own geek squad.

Real-life BFFs and frequent collaborators Seth Green and Breckin Meyer are nearing a deal to join the cast of Heroes for multi-episode arcs, sources confirm to me exclusively.

As I first teased in this week's episode of Ausiello TV, the Robot Chicken duo will play Atlanta-based comic book nerds aficionados who cross paths with (and perhaps serve as advisors to) one of the Heroes. I'm told the names of their characters are still in flux, so there's a chance the cheeky monikers I referenced in ATV won't stick. Then again, they very well may. (Fingers crossed that at least one of them does.)

Got any theories as to what higher purpose Green and Meyer may serve in the Heroesverse? Is it just me, or do these two bring to mind a certain nerdy advisory panel from another popular sci-fi franchise? C'mon, it can't just be me.

Sylar is a serial killer who sometimes removes the brains of his victims, primarily those he believes to be evolved humans. Chandra Suresh identified him as Patient Zero in his research. Before adopting the name Sylar, he was known as Gabriel Gray.

The episode "Six Months Ago" reveals that Sylar's real name is Gabriel Gray, a highly talented watch repairman. He encounters Chandra Suresh, who tells Gabriel that he may be an evolved human with superhuman powers. Gabriel eagerly submits to testing. After being rejected by Suresh because the test results are indeterminate, Gray contacts another person on Suresh's list, Davis. Gray discovers that he himself has the power of intuitive aptitude, and murders Davis for his telekinetic powers. After returning to Suresh, he becomes "Patient Zero", and continues to work with Suresh until Suresh realizes that Sylar is murdering the people that they meet. He kills Suresh soon after.

Sylar is first mentioned in the series as a mysterious serial killer sought out by the FBI, whose existence is completely speculative. Appearing as shadowy figure, he attempts to obtain Molly Walker's power after failing the first time, obtains the power of Charlie Andrews, and attempts to obtain Claire Bennet's regenerative abilities, but is stopped by Peter Petrelli. He is greatly injured and is captured by Eden McCain and the Haitian to be experimented on. After various experiments, Sylar manages to escape, but he is again repelled from an attempt to obtain Claire's power.

Remembering Suresh's list, Sylar makes his way to Zane Taylor, and by posing as the person Zane was expecting, Mohinder Suresh, he kills him and obtains his power. After Mohinder arrives, Sylar poses as Zane, and convinces Mohinder to take him to help convince other people with special abilities that Mohinder’s research is real. After meeting and obtaining enhanced hearing from a woman named Dale, Mohinder discovers Sylar's identity and manages to incapacitate him with drugs. After experimenting on Sylar to create a new list of people with special powers and attempting to kill him, Mohinder is captured. After Peter shows up and is temporarily killed by Sylar, Mohinder knocks him out, but ends up leaving Isaac Mendez's address on the ground.

After meeting Isaac, and being told that his fate is to die at the hands of the other heroes, he takes Isaac's power to paint the future. He soon finishes a painting depicting himself about to kill and absorb the power of the radioactive Ted Sprague, and believes himself to be the "exploding man". Believing that only those that "don't deserve" their powers are the ones that need to die, he doesn't want to kill innocent people. After attempting to confide in Mohinder, he returns home to his mother in the hope that she will tell him that it is fine not to be special and live as a normal watchmaker. She tells him that he can be anything, including the president, causing him to demonstrate his powers and accidentally injure her. This causes her to panic, which eventually leads to her death, and Sylar deciding that his path is correct.

After absorbing the radioactive powers of Ted, Sylar paints a picture of himself facing off against Peter Petrelli at Kirby Plaza. Realizing Peter is part of his final destiny, Sylar prepares to hunt him down. Before he can leave, Ando Masahashi arrives to kill him, though Ando is easily thwarted. After Sylar discovers the comic depicting his death at the hands of Hiro Nakamura, Hiro appears and rescues Ando. Sylar sets off for Kirby Plaza to wait for Peter. After a struggle involving Sylar, Peter, Matt Parkman, and Niki Sanders, Peter begins the process of exploding, showing Sylar that he is not the exploding man. Soon after, Hiro arrives and stabs Sylar as the comic depicts, which causes him to collapse.

Generations

Sylar is rescued by Candice Wilmer, who uses her powers of illusion to make Sylar disappear. After undergoing eight surgeries, he eventually awakes and realizes that he cannot use his powers. Though Candice promises that they will come back eventually, he kills her and attempts to absorb her power in order to start over. After realizing that it also doesn't work, he attempts to leave, though he realizes that he is in the middle of a dense jungle in Mexico. After wandering for three days, he is rescued from the brink of death by the passing by Maya Herrera and Alejandro Herrera. He introduces himself using his real name, and eventually finds out that they are in search of Chandra Suresh to help control Maya's power. He tells them that he knows Suresh, and that he will take them to him.

He continues to travel with them, and while Alejandro becomes more distrustful of Sylar, Maya becomes more trusting of him. After teaching Maya to control her powers, he convinces her that her brother hates her and that in her heart she wanted to see his wife dead. Convincing her to send Alejandro away, Sylar is eventually confronted by Alejandro, he kills him, but states that he would have let Alejandro go had he not come back. Soon after, Maya confesses her love for Gabriel, and they reach Mohinder's apartment. Sylar attempts to obtain a cure for his condition, later revealed to be the same strain of the Shanti Virus which Niki was infected with. Upon finding that Sylar cannot use any of his obtained abilities, Mohinder attempts to kill Sylar, causing Maya to find out Sylar's true intentions. Sylar then takes Maya, Mohinder and Molly hostage, and later forcing Mohinder to give Sylar the cure. He escapes with the cure, however injured due to an attack from Elle.

Villains

At the start of Volume Three: "Villains", Sylar injects himself with the cure, healing his wounds and apparently regaining use of his powers. He tests out his telekinesis by summoning a can to his hand, ominously remarking, "I'm back."

Peter Petrelli

Peter Petrelli is a former home hospice nurse from New York City. His brother Nathan and mother Angela also live there. Peter discovers he has the ability to mimic the superpowers of others.

Origins

In the premiere episode, Peter Petrelli is a hospice nurse living in New York City. Differences between Peter and Nathan, an ambitious politician focused on his congressional campaign, cause tensions between the two, which are exacerbated when Peter starts having extraordinarily vivid dreams of flying. He confides in Nathan, who passes them off as a sign of psychological distress. Peter summons Nathan to witness as he jumps off a building to prove he can fly. However, it's Nathan who flies, catching Peter as he falls. Peter blacks out after the brothers lose their grip on each other, waking up in the hospital with muddled recollections of what happened. Nathan claims neither of them flew and Peter is led to believe he's going crazy. Attempting to discover the truth, Peter threatens to jump from another rooftop if Nathan doesn't tell him what really happened. Nathan admits that they both flew. Peter first thinks Nathan is only telling him what he wants to hear, until Nathan points out that Peter is levitating as they argue. Peter's later attempts to fly, when away from his brother's presence, are initially unsuccessful.

Peter decides to quit his job as a nurse. He confides to Simone Deveaux, the daughter of his dying patient, Charles Deveaux, that he has loved her ever since he first saw her. The two of them spend a night together, even though Simone doesn't know how she truly feels about him.

The first hint of things to come arrive in the form of Hiro Nakamura, a man with the power to manipulate time and space, who travels back in time to give Peter a message: "Save the cheerleader, save the world." He urges Peter to be "the one we need". He tells Peter to go and visit Isaac Mendez, a painter and ex-boyfriend of Simone. Hiro notes how strange it is to see Peter without his scar.

Saving the cheerleader

Peter visits Isaac and convinces him to see past their amorous connection to Simone. He learns that Isaac has predicted an explosion will happen in New York soon, and they are both convinced saving this unknown cheerleader is connected to averting the catastrophe. While in Isaac's company, Peter also confirms that his superhuman ability involves copying those of others, when he mimics Isaac's powers. He finishes a painting of Isaac's showing the cheerleader being killed by Sylar.

Peter has a dream of showing Simone's ailing father that he can fly, and is awakened by her ringing his doorbell to tell him that her father died shortly after telling her that he had dreamed of flying with Peter and is worried about the state of the world. Peter told him that there are people who care, who will save the world from destruction. Simone then tells Peter that she has sold the painting by Isaac to a man named Linderman in Las Vegas. Peter believes the painting will help him to save the world.

Peter goes to Nathan's house, hoping that his brother can help convince Linderman to give up the painting. When he gets there, he finds Nathan, their mother, and Nathan's family attending a brunch with a newspaper reporter. Peter saves his brother from adultery charges by claiming Nathan was arranging for a private clinic to treat Peter's mental illness. That night, Nathan tells a skeptical Peter he was temporarily kidnapped in Vegas, and warns that people will want to lock them up if they realize the two of them have powers.

Simone shows Peter a photograph of the painting which sends Peter to the high school in Odessa, Texas where he meets Claire Bennet, the cheerleader with superhuman regenerative abilities. Sylar soon shows up to kill Claire, and Peter manages to fight him off while Claire escapes, ending with the pair fall off the roof of the school. Sylar survives the fall, but it seems as if Peter hasn't. However, when Claire shows up, Peter mimics her healing powers. As he begins resetting his bones, he asks Claire to call the police. They show up while Peter is still covered in his own blood and arrest him.

During a dream, he sees Nathan and his wife get into the car accident that paralyzes her from the waist down. He realizes the accident was partially caused by Nathan's first use of his flying ability (leaving the car with no driver). Peter later asks Nathan about "the other car" (one chasing Nathan's in the dream) involved in the accident, a detail no one else knew except for Nathan and Heidi.

Training

Peter is in jail holding cell when he has a dream in which he is visited by his brother, who metamorphoses into Sylar. He is then interviewed by telepathic LA cop, Matt Parkman, during which they telepathically piece together Sylar's attack on Union Wells High. He tells him Claire Bennet was the real target. Claire visits Peter in his cell later, believing he shares her powers, and tells him that he is her hero. A short time later, Nathan gets Peter out of jail. Peter's health is visibly and quickly deteriorating for yet unknown reasons. On their way out of the building, he passes out and has a vision in which he sees the other main characters in a city street just before he explodes. In the vision, as Nathan walks up to him, he begins to explode. After recovering from the vision, Peter tries to explain it to Nathan, but falls into a coma.

Peter is comatose. In his comatose state, Peter continues to have the same vision, with a little variation. Eventually, a new face appears in his dreams. This man, a tall, bearded Englishman, is shown laughing. Another new scene indicates that Peter may be mimicking Ted Sprague's radioactive powers. Eventually, Peter wakes up, and decides that his next destination is "the desert". He makes travel plans, looking for a place where nuclear testing has been done. Las Vegas is recommended. As he's put on hold, he notices the Englishman from his dreams stealing from a purse. Peter confronts the man, who is shocked that someone can see him. Calling himself "Claude", he tells Peter to leave him alone. However, Peter instead insists "Claude" teach him how to control his abilities. "Claude" declines, and tells Peter to stop following him. Peter returns to his apartment to find Mohinder and Nathan there. Mohinder believes he can help him while Nathan is insistent that Peter not go running off again. To get away, Peter pretends to consider their help, then runs out the door. Mohinder and Nathan see an open window and assume Peter has flown out it. However, this was misdirection, as Peter is actually hiding invisibly with Claude. Claude agrees to train him.

The lessons commence in "Distractions". Claude tells Peter to separate himself from his loved ones. Peter fiercely disagrees, but Claude says that caring about people—particularly Nathan—is holding him back. Claude reminds Peter that he must learn to harness the powers he's previously mimicked intentionally (or face exploding), and without their inherent users present. Then, Claude pushes Peter off a tall building and tells him to fly. Peter falls onto a taxicab suffering fatal injuries, but survives by remembering Claire Bennet and mimicking her powers. Peter realizes that he does not need to push people out of his mind; he just needs to remember how those people made him feel to regain use of their abilities. He then starts to lose control thinking about too many others at once leading Claude to knock him out.

In "Unexpected", Peter is shown to have more control over the abilities he has absorbed. During a sparring session with Claude, Peter uses telekinesis to shield himself from a blow, which puzzles Claude since none of Peter's acquaintances has that power. Peter surmises that he must have picked it up from the man who attacked him in Texas. Later in the episode, when assaulted by Mr. Bennet and the Haitian, due to a betrayal by Isaac, Peter stops the taser darts in mid-air, then uses flight to save himself and Claude. After their escape, Claude blames Peter for bringing Bennet and Haitian after him (revealing that he has remained invisible in order to elude them) and leaves Peter on his own.

Peter then confronts Isaac about his betrayal but Isaac is adamant that what he was doing would save the world. Peter, however, concludes jealousy was Isaac's main motivation. When Isaac tries to shoot him, Peter becomes invisible. Thoroughly unnerved, Isaac begins to firing indiscriminately and accidentally shoots Simone three times in the chest as she walks through the door. Peter cradles Simone as he and Isaac both watch her die.

Saving the world

Peter goes to to see Mohinder Suresh and is attacked by Sylar. Fighting him off, Peter becomes invisible, but Sylar foils the attempt at evasion by spraying glass shards everywhere, one of which strikes Peter in the back of the head, rendering him dead. He is saved by Suresh, who takes his body to Nathan's home. Everyone believes him to be dead, but Claire - drawing from her own near death experience, finds and removes the glass in the back of Peter's head, allowing him to recover.

Unable to control his ability, Peter is about to explode.

Believing that he will be the one to cause the catastrophe, he tries to convince Claire to stay, as her ability will allow her to get close enough to stop him from exploding. The moment Peter comes in range of Ted, Peter's hands begin to glow, but Peter barely manages to rein in the newly-absorbed power. They decide to leave the city immediately and thwart the foreseen catastrophe, but Ted is captured by the FBI. Sylar attacks the transport vehicle carrying him and steals Ted's power, killing him. Realizing that Sylar now has Ted's power, Peter assumes Sylar will become the bomb instead of him.

Peter confronts Sylar face to face in an attempt to stop him at Kirby Plaza. Matt Parkman and Niki Sanders intervene as well, and Hiro runs Sylar through with a sword. Peter discovers to his horror that his own lack of control over Ted's ability makes himself the one who will explode, causing the catastrophe. Nathan arrives and flies Peter high into the atmosphere where the younger Petrelli forces Nathan to let go, and explodes. Immediately after the explosion, Peter flies up to and catches a falling and radiation-burned Nathan.

Amnesia

After taking his brother to a hospital, Peter is apprehended by Bob and Elle and taken to a Company facility. Peter is told that the Company is developing a cure for his "disease," and that it would be best for him to stay in the facility until then. Peter, not willing to endanger any more lives after the near-miss at Kirby Plaza, readily agrees. Part of the treatment includes pills to suppress his powers, which Elle calls "Haitian pills."

Aside from dealing with an obviously smitten Elle, Peter leads an unremarkable life until he comes into contact with the inmate in the adjacent cell, Adam Monroe (who had been known as Takezo Kensei to Hiro Nakamura in feudal Japan). The four-hundred-year-old Adam insists that the Company has no interest in helping anyone. After Bob refuses to allow Peter to see his family, Peter comes around to Adam's point of view and covertly stops taking his medication. After five days, he is able to use his acquired phasing ability, to pass through the wall between his and Adam's cell. After the two finally meet face-to-face, they use the phasing ability to escape from the facility.

Fulfilling a promise he made to Peter, Adam goes with him to see his brother Nathan, who is still recovering from Peter's meltdown and explosion, in a Manhattan hospital. Mindful of his regenerative powers, Adam injects his blood into Nathan's IV, and the elder Petrelli's wounds begin to heal almost instantly. Knowing that Nathan's bedside would be the most logical place to find the pair, Adam urges Peter to flee quickly. They make haste but are confronted by Elle and the Haitian. Adam tells Peter to meet him in a warehouse in Montreal, and the two split up. Peter is pursued by the Haitian, who corners him in an empty container. Peter resists but is told by the Haitian that he deserves a better life than one spent imprisoned by the Company. The Haitian says that Peter's mother helped him in his time of need, so he is returning the favor. Peter does not understand what sort of alternative the Haitian has in mind; the Haitian puts his necklace around Peter's neck and erases his memory.

While Peter's family and friends mourn his death, an amnesic Peter is found half-naked and handcuffed inside a cargo container at a port in Cork, Ireland, by a group of thugs led by Ricky McKenna. The thugs accuse Peter of stealing the cargo container's alleged contents, which they had intended to take. After he and his henchmen beat him, Ricky is finally convinced that Peter is suffering from amnesia. He tells Peter his name and reveals that he has a box containing items (which were found on Peter's person) that will provide clues to Peter's former identity (credit cards, driver's license, etc.). However, Ricky will only hand over the box if Peter helps him and his gang with a job. Upon accepting and completing the job - by helping the gang rob a gambling house - Peter earns the box but is initially unwilling to open it for fear that he might not like who he was before. Caitlin, Ricky's sister, encourages him to do so, stating that she believes him to be a good person. The two quickly form a romantic relationship.

In the episode "Fight or Flight," Peter experiences a sudden resurgence of his acquired precognition power, painting a picture of a street intersection in Montreal, specifically the intersection of Boul. Saint-Laurent and Boul. Saint-Jacques (spelled Boul. Saint-Jaque in the painting), with a building that appears to be La Cathedrale de Notre-Dame in the background. Peter is unaware of it, but this is the warehouse that Adam had told him to meet him at two weeks prior (in "Four Months Ago..."). In "The Line," Peter and Caitlin travel there and find a note from Adam warning Peter about the Company. Peter accidentally jumps ahead in time with Caitlin to a desolate Times Square in New York City. A flyer on the ground, dated June 14, 2008, explains that Homeland Security had ordered an evacuation of the entire city.

The virus

In "Out of Time", Peter and Caitlin are captured and separated by a bio-hazard team in 2008. After being told he had already died, he meets his mother. His mother tells him that he is the one who can stop this future and save the world. When Peter sees Caitlin, they meet and hold hands through the fence barricade separating them. Before he can help her, he unwillingly returns to the present, leaving Caitlin trapped in the future. Repeated attempts by Peter to return to the future fail. Peter is soon startled by someone entering the Montreal safehouse and uses his acquired electricity power to attack the intruder. The person blocks the attack with his hand, which regenerates, and reveals himself to be Adam Monroe. He curiously asks why Peter attacked him, quickly discovering Peter's amnesia. He then helps Peter to restore his memories by encouraging him to use his acquired healing abilities to repair the damage to his mind. In "Truth & Consequences", Adam and Peter track down Victoria Pratt, who Adam says discovered the virus. Peter tells her he needs her help to save the future. When Victoria sees Adam, she shoots him. Peter reads Victoria's mind to discover the virus is at Primatech Paper in Texas. When Peter and Adam arrive at Primatech, time stops for everyone but Peter, a result of Hiro's powers. Hiro is shocked to find that Peter is working with Adam Monroe, then declares his intent to kill the man who killed his father. When Peter refuses to let Hiro pass, Hiro charges at him with his sword.

In "Powerless", Peter and Hiro fight in Primatech, though Hiro is ultimately knocked unconscious. Peter helps Adam Monroe break into the Primatech vault, but he is confronted once again, this time by a revived Hiro, Matt Parkman, and Peter's brother, Nathan. After a mental struggle with Matt, Peter is convinced by Nathan that Adam cannot be trusted. Peter turns to find that Adam had already slipped into the vault. Peter runs in to see the virus falling to the floor. He catches it and destroys the virus. Together, Matt, Nathan and Peter decide to reveal what the Company has been doing. During a press conference, headed by Nathan, an unknown assassin shoots Nathan twice in the chest, preventing him from revealing his power. Peter tends to his brother as the crowd panics.

Matt Parkman

Matt Parkman is a detective in the New York Police Department, though he had immense trouble getting to his desired position because his dyslexia made it difficult for him to pass the entrance exam. He is an evolved human with the ability of telepathy.

Genesis

Matt Parkman is a police officer with the LAPD. He tried to become a detective, but has flunked the exam three times due to dyslexia. Parkman is a mind-reader; he can hear the thoughts of people around him. He first realizes this after hearing the thoughts of Molly Walker, a girl who was hiding from a serial killer named Sylar. Not able to explain how he knew where Molly was hiding, Matt is arrested.

After proving his ability to his FBI partner by reading her thoughts, he is offered a position in the investigation. Things turn dangerous when a man who appears to be Sylar shows up. Stopping the man from harming Molly, Matt tries to comfort her while Audrey, the FBI agent, gives chase. Ultimately, the man escapes, but not before displaying apparent telekinesis and standing after being shot. Later, Matt comes home to his wife, Janice, with whom he is going to couples therapy.

Matt escapes to a bar after a heated argument with his wife and hears the thoughts of the various patrons. However, when he encounters a patron, a tall silent black man, whose mind he cannot read, the other voices fade out. The man sits and stares at Matt until Matt falls unconscious.

Matt wakes up strapped to a table with Mr. Bennet standing over him. Bennet explains that they had to drug him, and that he works for a secret company. Matt tries to read Bennet's mind, but is unable to due to The Haitian, who was the man at the bar. Matt is still able to discern the name of Bennet's daughter, Claire impressing Bennet with his developing power. The Haitian then wipes Matt's memories.

Matt wakes up a day later, suffering from what he thinks is a hangover. His wife, Janice tells him he has been missing and was worried. He uses his ability to listen to her thoughts and give her everything she wants, healing the rift between the two of them.

The following day, at work, Matt and his partner at the FBI run down a possible lead on Sylar after discovering a charred corpse with a fingerprint. Instead of Sylar, they find a man with radioactive powers. In a stand off, Matt defuses the situation by allowing the man to speak with his comatose wife. At the end of the day, Matt is informed by his old partner that he was being given another chance to apply for a detective position. Matt reads the man's mind, discovering that he is sleeping with Janice. Matt punches his former partner and is consequently suspended.

Unaware of this, Audrey asks Matt for assistance in interviewing Ted Sprague, the man who radiates nuclear power. Matt talks with him and discovers that, like himself, Ted was abducted from a bar after seeing the Haitian and woke up later with amnesia. He further discovers similar marks on their necks. Then, Homeland Security takes Ted into custody before Matt can learn more, but Ted tells Matt to "find the Haitian." Audrey later notifies Matt that Ted has escaped.

Matt and Audrey then investigate a crime scene at Union Wells High, in Odessa, Texas where they suspect Sylar was intercepted by two people nearby. They don't consider Peter Petrelli a suspect in Jackie's death, but interrogate him and learn that Sylar's target was the cheerleader Claire.

Matt later attempts to read Claire Bennet's mind when she is being interviewed. However, he is unable to hear anything except static, which also happened to him before he was abducted. Suspicious, he and Audrey stake out Primatech Paper and Matt recognizes The Haitian. He attempts to overhear Mr. Bennet or the Haitian's thoughts and is able to pick up just one word: "Sylar."

For the next two weeks, Matt keeps a close watch on Primatech Paper, but he is seen on cameras. Finally, in "Godsend," Matt and Audrey organize a raid of Primatech. When they find nothing, their boss is very upset and threatens to fire Audrey. Fearful of losing her job, she tells Matt their partnership is over. Matt confronts Bennet, telling him he knows he was kidnapped and will make Bennet pay.

Matt faces a review board that questions his details of the past few weeks. They find his references to a "super-powered serial killer" almost insane. Matt recants his statement after hearing it will save his job. However, Matt is suspended for six months. At home, Matt takes a job as a bodyguard for money. His assignment is Aron Malsky, a man who stole $2 million from Linderman as restitution. Upon learning the jeweler is on Linderman's payroll, they try to run, but Jessica comes to kill Aron for Linderman. After a fight, Jessica throws Matt out of a window and onto a sign girder; then proceeded to tear Aron in half. Malsky had hidden diamonds in the ceiling shortly before he died. Matt finds them and keeps them.

In "Unexpected", Matt receives a call from Ted, who wants to meet Matt along with Hana Gitelman. Hana informs Matt of Primatech and the connection to their abductions and the markings on their necks. Ted wants to confront Mr. Bennet, but needs Matt's help. Matt agrees. Both Matt and Ted confront Mr. Bennet and his family at gunpoint as the family was coming home. However, things turn sour and Matt is soon captured again.

In "Parasite", it is revealed that Matt is a prisoner of Thompson and his associates. Then in ".07%", Bennet helps Matt and Ted escape. Over breakfast, they solidify their plans to travel to New York City to knock out a tracking system.

In "The Hard Part", Matt, Bennet and Ted continue their mission. They later are shown walking at Kirby Plaza in New York City, where Bennet and Claire are reunited. The group then splits in two, with Peter, Claire, and Ted going to a remote town in Nebraska, and Matt and Bennet continuing with their mission to destroy the tracking system. Matt gets them where they need to go.

While waiting for the elevator, they bump into Jessica and her husband, D.L. Bennet and Matt then go off where the tracking system is, only to find Thompson waiting. Matt saves Bennet from death, and Bennet kills Thompson. The two then find the tracking system, surprised to find Molly Walker. Matt protests killing her, but Bennet says it must be done. They argue with Bennet until Matt is knocked out by Mohinder from behind.

In the finale, "How to Stop an Exploding Man", Matt finds Sylar and shoots him. However, Sylar reverses the bullets and gravely wounds Matt. He is brought to a hospital, upsetting Molly.

Generations

In "Four Months Later...," it is revealed Matt divorced Janice and that he is now a detective for the NYPD, and is taking care of Molly Walker in Mohinder's apartment. He learns Molly is having nightmares of a dangerous man who can see her when she thinks of him. In "Lizards", Matt is investigating the murder of Kaito Nakamura. He interrogates Angela Petrelli and learns that someone may have murdered Kaito for revenge; but Angela refuses to be interrogated further. Matt later saves Angela from a mysterious attacker. In "The Kindness of Strangers, Matt finds out that his father is part of The Company and that he is the dangerous man frightening Molly. However, Molly tries to find him for Matt, but she ends up in a coma.

In "Fight or Flight" Matt and Nathan track down Matt's father. When they find him, he reveals he is also a telepath, and is also about to be murdered. At first he seems sorry for having left Matt as a child but ends up tricking Matt and Nathan in separate illusions. Matt is trapped in jail, confronted by his ex-wife and the baby she gave birth to after the divorce. It is indicated that while she said that the baby she was having wasn't Matt's, he knew that this wasn't true. Matt is able to telepathically talk to Nathan and escape the illusion, finding that Bob is set to be killed.

In "Out of Time", Matt discovers he is able to manipulate people and uses it to find the last unknown survivor of the photograph by "interrogating" Angela Petrelli. He also finally defeats his father because he learns that like his father he is able to control all aspects of the brain. He manages to tap into this and enter the nightmare Molly's trapped in and summon his father into it. He realizes it's his father's own nightmare and after a battle of wills leaves it with Molly and uses his powers to trap his father in his own nightmare. In "Powerless", he goes with Nathan to intercept Peter and Adam Monroe, in hopes of stopping them from releasing a deadly virus that would kill 93% of the world's population. Before leaving to confront them, Angela warns Matt that if they cannot stop Peter, that he'll have to kill him. Upon meeting Peter at Primatech, Matt attempts to compel Peter to stop Adam. Though this proves unsuccessful, Nathan is later able to convince Peter that Adam has tricked him. Together, they manage to stop the virus, and resolve to reveal their secret, and the Company, to the world. Nathan enlists Matt's help to use his powers in convincing the media to hear him out. At the conference, Matt is present when Nathan is gunned down before he can reveal their secrets, but is unable to locate the assailant immediately after the attack.

Alternate Future

Note - The following information reveals an alternate reality in which New York City is destroyed by a nuclear explosion.

In "Five Years Gone", Matt is seen working as Director of the Department of Homeland Security and is in direct contact with the now President Nathan Petrelli (who is actually Sylar in disguise). In this future Matt is seen as being a much darker and cynical man who hunts down those with abilities and arrests them. He kills Hana Gitelman, Mr. Bennet and Future Hiro. In the climax of the episode he witnesses firsthand (to his surprise) Sylar displaying his power who has been in disguise as Nathan Petrelli. He still cares about his family however, asking and has a much greater deal of control over his powers, being able to "rip out" memories instead of passively overhearing thoughts.

Monica Dawson

Monica Dawson is an evolved human from New Orleans, LA with the ability of adoptive muscle memory. She is Micah's second cousin and acts as a surrogate to him while Niki is away.

Monica Dawson is one of many new characters to join the second season of the series. She is the first cousin of Micah Sanders, and niece of D. L. Hawkins. She also has a younger brother named Damon. She lives with her grandmother, Nana Dawson, who takes on responsibility of caregiver to Monica and her brother. Monica and the Dawson family live in New Orleans which was heavily flooded as a result of Hurricane Katrina. It is known that her mother was killed during the devastation of Katrina.

TV Guide describes Monica as "an avenging angel intent on bringing justice to prevalent corruption," obviously inspired by the death of her mother. Her family home was flooded, leaving her family with financial difficulties, and of course the sudden loss of her mother. She works hard to support her brother and grandmother (played by Nichelle Nichols). Furthermore she has to deal with the implications of discovering she has a special ability. "She's a good girl with a good heart who has had her life taken from her, and she's looking for a way out." She adopts the a role of surrogate caregiver to Niki and D.L.'s son Micah who lives with the Dawson family during the second season.

Elle Bishop

Elle Bishop is an agent of the Company and searches for evolved humans, at the behest of her father, who is a founding member of the Company. She is an evolved human with the power of lightning.

Elle first appears in the episode "Fight or Flight" searching for Peter Petrelli in Ireland. Peter has no recollection of his past and is staying with the owner of Wandering Rocks Pub, Ricky. Elle questions Rick about Peter's whereabouts and when he pretends not to know Peter, she kills him with a large bolt of electricity on her way out the door. Later on, during a telephone conversation with Bob Bishop, her father and Company head, she dismisses the murder as trivial and insists she can find Peter. However, she is pulled off the assignment, much to her frustration.

Elle next appears in "Four Months Ago...". During this time, the Company made Peter their willing prisoner and in those months he was held, Elle seems to have developed a crush on him, later Peter confesses that he likes the little jolts which Elle gives him as a tease and kisses her. She confides in Peter that she has lived in the Company's holding facility for sixteen years. She also admits to being diagnosed as a sociopath; she explains at age six, she accidentally set her grandmother's house on fire and at age eight, caused a major blackout in Ohio. When he escapes from the facility, Elle is upset and angry to the point that she blasts him, setting him ablaze during his escape.

In "Cautionary Tales", Elle came back to the United States. Former Company employee Noah Bennet, captures Elle for collateral as Bob had managed to capture his daughter. He ties her hands to a chair and ties her barefeet together and puts them in a dogbath. Elle tries to use her abilities while in the dogbath, but she shocks herself. During this time, Noah tells Elle that Bob allowed the Company to perform tests on her which had begun as early as the age of seven. This included subjecting her to high doses of electricity, which led to her twisted personality. Elle has no recollection of the tests, and Noah suggests the Haitian had a role in causing Elle to forget her experiences. After an agreement is made, she is reunited with Bob and Claire momentarily reunited with Noah. However, Elle attacks Claire and West as they leave. She tries to attack Noah, but he shoots Elle in the arm before she can hurt him or anyone else. As it seems Noah is going to kill Bob, Mohinder Suresh, a scientist working with Noah and the Company, shoots and kills Noah. She leaves with Bob and Mohinder, giving Bob a look of distrust.

In the episode "Truth & Consequences", Bob chastises Elle for allowing West and Claire to escape. He then assigns Elle to perform surveillance on Claire and her family as they prepare to leave town. Claire, however, spots Elle from a distance, leading to a physical confrontation.

Elle's last appearance in season two is in "Powerless". She is reprimanded by her father for her mistakes, and to redeem herself, she attempts to re-capture the now powerless Sylar for the Company. She uses her ability to confront Sylar in Mohinder's research lab, but Sylar is armed with a gun and shoots at Elle. Sylar manages to slip away, leaving Elle unharmed. She comes out somewhat defeated, but is informed by Mohinder that if not for her arrival, Sylar would have killed him, Maya and Molly. He says the three of them owe her their lives, to which she replies, "Cool".

The episode marked Bell's previously expressed interest in performing in scenes with the character Sylar, as she and Zachary Quinto have been good friends for almost ten years. Bell had said that she "would love to see him and Elle face off one day".[1] In November 2007, Bell and Quinto filmed scenes at a restaurant in Los Angeles, which was set as a "New Jersey Diner" and had involved police and paramedics.[6] The filmed scenes have yet to be used on an episode.

Bell has said in interviews that in later episodes of Heroes, "You'll find out that Elle holds the key to Claire's future" and that Elle has "a [present] with Peter and a past with Claire's dad and a future with Claire".

Kristen Bell has five episodes left on her Heroes guest star contract.

Noah Bennet

Noah Bennet is Claire's adoptive father. He was part of a secret operation based out of Primatech Paper Company which involves tracking and intervening in the lives of evolved humans.

At first glance, Noah Bennet appears to be an ordinary businessman who works at the Primatech Paper Company and lives in Odessa, Texas, with his wife and two children. However, he and his associates have actually traveled the world for a number of years investigating superhuman phenomena. Bennet claims that he assists them in learning to use their powers, although there are sometimes unintended consequences, such as losing his perfect vision. One of Bennet's associates is a mysterious man known only as "The Haitian" with the power of wiping out memories. Others include Eden McCain, a doctor called "Hank," and a woman called "Lisa". In the past, he has also worked with Claude, the "Invisible Man". His true agenda and overall affiliation are still mysterious. In response to Matt Parkman's inquiries as to whether he works for the FBI or the CIA, Bennet said he doesn't work for "any organization that has initials."[3] Bennet clearly loves his daughter, Claire, but is also overprotective of her. This sometimes leads him to use his authority and associates in ways more unsavory than usual. Past, present and future events all indicate that Bennet has lied about Claire's origin multiple times. This leads him to lose the trust of his daughter temporarily in the first season.

According to his driving license, his previous address is 9 Juniper Lane, Odessa, Texas. Noah Bennet speaks Japanese, and also appears to speak at least a limited amount of Russian. Bennet is also proficient with firearms. Although he does not possess any powers of his own, his extensive experience in dealing with beings with superpowers makes him capable of handling them.

Beginnings

In "Company Man", a flashback episode, it is revealed that Noah Bennet's former partner years ago was Claude, with whom he rescued Claire from the fire her biological mother caused by pyrokinesis. However, because Claude was hiding "one of them", Bennet was forced to kill him. However, Claude later turned out to be alive—he had used his powers to become invisible when Bennet shot him, disappearing from view. In "Six Months Ago", an episode that takes place six months before "Genesis",[4] Bennet turns the wanted criminal and mind controller Eden McCain into one of his operatives. At about the same time, he is contacted by Chandra Suresh, who has found Claire's picture on her high school's web site after identifying her as having potential powers. After Chandra leaves, Bennet orders Eden McCain to become a neighbor of Chandra Suresh and remove Claire's name from Chandra's list of superpowered humans.

Genesis

Noah Bennet first appears in "Genesis", the first episode. He is found in the apartment of Chandra Suresh in Madras, India. Chandra's son Mohinder enters the apartment, but leaves quickly after realizing Bennet is there as well. Bennet seems to notice Mohinder, and later follows him to New York. There, Bennet is one of Mohinder's afternoon passengers during his job as a taxi driver. Bennet begins pleasantly referencing his travels, and stating that he'll be happy to see his family again. The conversation turns as he mentions personal facts about Mohinder, ultimately resulting in Mohinder fleeing his own cab. Finally, Bennet comes home to Odessa and greets his family. The next morning in "Don't Look Back", Claire states her desire to meet her biological parents. Bennet is reluctant, but doesn't outright say "no." After Claire gets home from school, Bennet says he'll start contacting the adoption agency and look for her biological parents. After a happy Claire leaves the room, Bennet is seen watching a video tape of Claire demonstrating her healing abilities.

In "Collision", Bennet is first seen standing over Matt Parkman, who is strapped to a gurney. Bennet calmly converses with Matt, advising him to relax. Bennet also checks the readout of a machine used to gauge when Parkman is trying to read Bennet's mind. Bennet explains that the Haitian is blocking Matt's powers. Nevertheless, Matt is able to pull the name "Claire" from Bennet's mind. Bennet is impressed by Matt's growing ability, and then tells the Haitian to "go deep" with Matt, who is last heard screaming. That morning, back at the Bennet house, Bennet finds that a distraught Claire has just come home. Bennet assumes from Claire's bare, mud-covered feet that she was out all night. Bennet has to get to work, but states that they'll talk later. He is then seen monitoring Nathan Petrelli, who has just had a one night stand with Niki/Jessica Sanders. Bennet tells the Haitian to kidnap "just the one" (Nathan).

In the next episode, "Hiros", Bennet and the Haitian attempt to force Nathan into a car, but he escapes by flying away. Bennet is then seen at Texas hospital visiting Claire. Claire explains that Brody is a rapist and attempted to force himself on her. After speaking to one of his victims, Claire was motivated to do something. She only wanted to "scare" Brody, but as he sat in the passenger seat and said he wouldn't stop raping girls, she ultimately crashed his car intentionally. Claire begs her father not to tell anyone, and Bennet merely says he'll take care of it. Bennet then appears in Brody's room, followed by the Haitian. He says that she is going through 'a confusing time', telling that he knows of her powers. Bennet tells the Haitian to "hollow him out" and "take everything" (erase all of Brody's memories, including that of his own name); afterward, he tells the boy that he is being given a chance to start over in life.

Finally, in "Better Halves", Bennet has set up a meeting between Claire and his two associates, Hank and Lisa. Bennet presents the two as Claire's biological parents. While carefully watching the two with his wife Sandra, Bennet receives a call from Eden McCain, his spy in New York. Eden relays information about Mohinder, Isaac Mendez ("the precog") and the message "save the cheerleader, save the world." Bennet is disturbed by the last part, but regains his composure. Bennet tells Eden to prevent Mohinder from leaving New York and to "bring in the precog." After Hank and Lisa exit the Bennet home, Noah Bennet follows the two outside and thanks them for their service. At this point his wife, Sandra, lets slip to Claire that they'd had problems finding her parents in the past and that she was surprised that Noah Bennet managed to do it now.

Saving Claire

Bennet asks Isaac, whom Eden "persuaded" to come with her, to help him to prevent Claire from being murdered by Sylar at her homecoming game the next night. Bennet has collected three previous paintings Isaac created depicting a terrified Claire close-up, running up the bleachers in a football stadium, and lying dead on the ground with the top of her skull removed. When Isaac is unable to paint without the use of heroin and resists taking the drug, Bennet orders Eden to use her powers to make Isaac believe he wants to use the drug.

Bennet becomes frustrated after Isaac is unable to paint something that makes sense to him. When Eden protests his actions, Bennet shows her a series of photographs depicting Sylar's dead victims—all with their brains removed from their heads—and says he is determined to save his daughter from such a fate. He orders Eden to go to the homecoming game and look for Sylar and grounds Claire to prevent her from being killed. Bennet discovers later, however, that Claire snuck out and worriedly runs to the school to find her. When he arrives, he is too late to stop Sylar from attacking the cheerleader in the pictures. Bennet soon discovers that the victim was not Claire; rather, it was Jackie Wilcox, one of Claire's fellow cheerleaders. A relatively relieved Bennet soon reunites with his daughter and insists they go home while the police handle things. Claire says that she has something to tell her father regarding her uncanny survival.[5]

In the episode "Fallout", Claire's father reveals that he knew about her powers long before she was aware of them. He acknowledges doing things he was not proud of to keep her safe, and tells Claire that Sylar had been taken care of, but that she must keep silent about her powers because she is in danger from others like him. Bennet later meets with Sylar, confined in a prison cell, and tells him that the cell is keeping his powers suppressed. Sylar taunts Bennet telling him that Bennet is just like him. In their next confrontation Bennet turns the taunt back at Sylar telling him how they plan to study him to determine what makes him "tick." Sylar boasts that he would escape and kill Claire, taking her healing abilities. Eden suggests using her powers to persuade Sylar to kill himself, but Bennet declines (though briefly tempted), as he takes orders from someone higher up. Bennet later takes Claire to the police station, where she is interviewed about Jackie's murder. Officer Parkman is unable to read the thoughts of Claire or her father, since the Haitian is hiding behind a nearby corner. Afterwards, Bennet orders the Haitian to wipe the memories of his son and Claire's friend, Zach.[6] When Claire finds out that the two of them have lost all memory of her powers she rings her father in a panic. It is left open whether it is only then that he orders the Haitian to wipe Claire's memories or whether he has already done so.

After two weeks

In "Godsend", Bennet believes Claire's memory has been erased. Claire acts as if it has, as well. However, Bennet and Claire are slowly drifting apart. At Primatech Paper, the FBI investigates the building as well as Bennet and his associates. Though they find nothing, Officer Parkman knows Bennet's up to something and has realized that Bennet kidnapped him. Bennet is unfazed, however, and simply tells Matt "good luck" in regards to his vendetta.

Next, Bennet shows up at the apartment of Mohinder Suresh in New York. Mohinder is defensive, recalling Bennet's past actions. However, Bennet means him no harm, and even mentions Eden. Soon, he makes a proposition. Bennet tells Mohinder that together they could make a difference, and asks Mohinder to join him. Mohinder says he isn't interested, but Bennet leaves his card anyway.

Bennet returns to Sylar's holding area in "The Fix". There, he finds Hank telling him that Sylar's vital signs are highly irregular and he may be dying. Bennet tells Hank to keep him alive, referencing orders from his superiors to that effect. Furthermore, he states that Sylar will "die on [Bennet's] terms," not his own. At home, Bennet finds Claire and Zach are "working on a school project" together, according to Claire. Claire also acts as if she'd rather not spend time with Zach. Bennet, however, tells her that she had been friends and encourages her to see if they might not find something in common. After Zach and she go upstairs, Bennet gets a call from Hank. Hank states that Sylar has died, which Bennet replies is "less than ideal." Bennet then tells Hank to prepare Sylar "for shipping." Back at Sylar's cell, Bennet finds the body of a dead Hank where Sylar should be. Bennet then turns around to find Sylar calmly standing in front of him. Sylar asks about Claire, then states his intentions to kill her. After telekinetically throwing Bennet against a wall and playing with the lights, Sylar leaves Bennet trapped in the cell. Later, at the Bennet home, he and the Haitian narrowly save Sandra from Sylar. Although Sylar escapes, Bennet is confident he will catch the killer. After the Haitian wipes Sandra's memories yet again, Bennet is called by Isaac Mendez. Mendez is revealed to be working with Bennet, as he relays information about Peter Petrelli.

In "Unexpected", Bennet and the Haitian manage to track down Peter and Claude. They fire tasers at Claude, but Peter unexpectedly utilizes his powers to stop the electrodes and fly away from them. Bennet is then called by Claire, who tells him that Sandra has collapsed for unknown reasons. Bennet heads back home, and is confronted by Claire in the hospital, where she reveals that she remembers everything that the Haitian was supposed to erase. Afterwards, the Bennet family returns home, where they are confronted by Ted Sprague and Matt Parkman.

The episode "Company Man" begins with the hostage-taking of the Bennet family by Sprague and Parkman, who are in search of answers. Noah Bennet has revelations about his company during this situation, showing that he initially came to work for "The Company" under the supervision of a man named Thompson, and partnered with Claude. He is eventually ordered to kill Claude, because Claude apparently was hiding "one of them" from The Company. During the confrontation with Sprague, Thompson comes through the back door and shoots Ted, who goes into an uncontrolled radioactive state. Noah Bennet and Matt escape the house, while Claire tranquilizes Sprague. After this, Matt and Ted are taken to the paper factory. Thompson asks Bennet when Claire should be showing up at the factory. It is at that moment that Bennet realizes he's too attached to Claire. The graphic novel "Family Man"[7] reveals that, at this point, Noah Bennet decides that he must do what he can to save Claire and "bring down the people [he] work[s] for." Having noticed that he is being followed by someone from The Company, Noah Bennet drives to a cybercafé and sends a message to Hana asking for help, which she agrees to do. The episode ends with Noah Bennet taking Claire to the same bridge on which he shot Claude so many years ago. The Haitian shows up, and Bennet instructs the Haitian to shoot him in the stomach, then "Go deep" and wipe anything out of his memory that could lead "them" to Claire. The Haitian follows the order, then takes Claire away to protect her, as instructed.

In "Parasite", Bennet is questioned by Thompson; he claims that the last thing he remembers is driving home Sandra from the hospital. Later, before Noah Bennet is about to leave on business, Sandra tells him that she is only pretending to have had her mind wiped, as he told her to do; and that he had told her everything about what he really did, who he works for, and what happened to Claire. She gives him a note that he left for himself, warning him not to look for Claire because she is with friends. Then, Bennet and Candice travel to New York to "clean up" Isaac's mess. Upon his return home, Bennet tells Sandra that they both have to pretend that they have no idea what has happened, and that Primatech has to be stopped for good to ensure Claire's safety. "Sandra" then transforms back into Candice, and other members of the Company, including Thompson, enter the room behind her.

On the run

In ".07%", Bennet is now in the custody of Primatech, in a solitary cell. His will to protect Claire is challenged by Candice, who shapeshifts into Claire's form; Bennet recognizes the ruse right away and tells her and Thompson that he does not know where Claire is and will never give her up to them. Thompson threatens to kill Bennet, but Bennet notes that if they really wanted him dead, they'd have killed him by now. Thompson tells Bennet that he is merely waiting on orders to do so.

Realizing that the only hope of stopping Thompson and his superiors will be to escape from Primatech, Bennet telepathically gives instructions to Matt Parkman, who is also being held prisoner, on how to break out of his cell. Matt is then told to fetch Sprague from his cell so that Sprague can generate an EMP to shut down the power at Primatech, which will then allow them to break Bennet out of his cell. Matt is reluctant to go along with the plan, and Sprague doesn't trust Bennet, but eventually the three of them work together to escape.

Over breakfast at the Burnt Toast Diner, Bennet reveals that the only way to stop Thompson is to get to New York City to destroy the tracking device that tracks heroes tagged with the neck tattoo, and he produces bus tickets to take them there. When Matt asks if Mr. Linderman is in New York, Bennet seems surprised by Matt's knowledge of the name. Matt guesses correctly that Bennet was "middle management" and is somewhat incredulous that Bennet seems not to know who was signing his paychecks all those years. Bennet tells Matt to forget about Linderman and that it is more important that they get to New York and destroy the tracker. Sprague casts the deciding vote to go to New York City, and Matt reluctantly agrees to join them on their destination.

After escaping from Primatech Paper with Sprague and Parkman, the three of them head for New York to destroy the tracking system and the company. In "The Hard Part", Bennet, Parkman and Sprague steal a car and head for New York. Bennet reveals that the Company has a new tracking system called the Walker system. He reveals that this system doesn't need radio isotopes or tracers to find you; it just knows where you are. Unbeknownst to Bennet, the Walker tracker system is later revealed to be Molly Walker, who has the ability to mentally find anyone in the world, just by thinking about them.

"How to Stop an Exploding Man"

The three arrive at Kirby Plaza, which is the same plaza that holds Micah Sanders and Molly Walker. When they arrive, Bennet is reunited with Claire. Peter then notices his hands beginning to glow. Bennet realizes that Peter is absorbing Ted's power, and Peter and Claire look at each other.

After Peter controls himself, the group splits in two, with Peter, Claire, and Sprague going to a remote town in Nebraska, and Parkman and Bennet continuing with their mission to destroy the tracking system. Bennet knows where they need to go, but he needs Parkman's powers to allow them access. Matt confronts a security guard and convinces him that they know each other and had spoken outside of work the previous night. Upon revealing an embarrassing secret of the guard's, the man lets them in without hesitation.

While waiting for the elevator, they bump in Jessica and D.L., with Jessica surprised to see Matt still alive. The four go up in the elevator together, with Bennet telling them where to find Linderman. Bennet and Parkman then get off at the floor where the tracking system is, only to find Thompson waiting for them. Parkman saves Bennet from getting shot, only to have Bennet leave him defenseless against Thompson. Thompson then comes up behind Parkman, puts a gun to his head, and asks him, "What am I thinking now, Parkman?" Bennet comes from the side and says, "Your last thoughts," killing Thompson with two point blank gunshots to the head.

The two then proceed to find the tracking system, where both are surprised to find it's a young girl — though only Matt is completely surprised: Bennet claims he knew it was a person, just not a little girl — whom Matt had previously rescued from Sylar, and who thought of Matt as "my hero." Matt protests killing her, but Bennet says it must be done in order to save the others. The two continue to argue until Matt is suddenly knocked out by Mohinder from behind. The episode ends with Mohinder pointing a gun on Bennet while the latter points his gun on Molly, both men threatening to shoot.

Parkman wakes up, ending the standoff. Bennet asks Molly to locate Sylar, which she does - he's nearby.

He later finds Peter after he passed out after nearly exploding, thanks him for saving Claire and agrees to kill him if it comes to that. He also reveals his first name telling Peter to "call me Noah."

In the climax of "How to Stop an Exploding Man," Peter, Bennet, and Parkman confront Sylar in the plaza. Bennet is immediately thrown against a wall, rendering him incapable of stopping Peter if he explodes.

Generations

Noah Bennet

Four months after the incidents in New York, the Bennets have gone into hiding, having moved to Costa Verde, California, and assumed the last name of "Butler." Noah takes a subordinate job at a copy store called Copy Kingdom, and makes it very clear that he won't stand for his younger superior's bullying management style. Despite going into hiding, he is still working to take down the "the Company" with the help of Mohinder Suresh.

In "Lizards", Noah tells his wife about a series of eight paintings done by the late Isaac Mendez, each depicting the death of a single person. He possesses the first, which predicts the death of Kaito Nakamura, and intends to locate the other seven. At the end of the episode, Noah is reunited with the Haitian; the accompanying graphic novel shows that Mohinder directed the Haitian to Bennet.

In "Kindred", Mohinder finds the last of the eight paintings, this one depicting Noah's death. He is lying on the ground with a bullet hole through the left lens of his glasses. A girl resembling Claire is in the background, apparently being held by someone.

In "Fight or Flight", Noah and the Haitian travel to Odessa, Ukraine, to find the remaining paintings. While there, he receives a call from Mohinder explaining that Molly Walker has fallen into a catatonic state and he wishes to take her to the Company for observation. Noah is unable to talk him out of it, though he warns that they'll have Mohinder as soon as he relinquishes that which he cares about.

In "The Line", Noah tracks down his old mentor, Ivan. He has the Haitian remove precious memories (marriage day, kids being born, etc.) from the old man one by one until Ivan succumbs and reveals where the paintings are. Knowing that his method of interrogation, as well as trying to use the Haitian to cover his tracks, will alert the Company, he instead opts to kill his mentor, making the affair appear to be a simple home invasion.

In "Out of Time", Noah and Suresh attempt to make sense of the paintings Noah and the Haitian have just found. The one in question is a painting of Suresh holding a Company-issue gun that has just been fired. Noah takes pictures of the paintings in an effort to send them to Suresh, but Suresh refuses stating his life may be in danger. Afterwards, Noah and the Haitian burn the entire collection and Noah returns home. West has dropped by without notice that same morning and made breakfast for Claire. As Noah walks into the house, West sees Noah and remembers who he is. West runs outside and abruptly flies away without being seen by Noah. Having left behind a newspaper detailing the incident with the drunk cheerleader, it ends up in hand of Noah, who sees it as a threat to the family. He confronts Claire and tells her she is putting the life of their family in danger. Furthermore, he tells her and the family to pack their things, and they are leaving immediately. Claire then calls her father out, stating that he was not being honest about his "trip" he took for "management training". Claire defiantly tells her father that she is not moving anywhere else and walks out of the room.

In "Cautionary Tales", Bob, Elle, and Mohinder arrive in Costa Verde to take Claire. Though they are eventually successful, Noah manages to capture Elle. Noah brokers a trade with Bob, getting his daughter back in exchange for Bob's. When Elle breaks free and tries to kill West and Claire, Noah shoots her in the arm. He then prepares to execute Bob, citing that Claire will never be free so long as the Company survives. But Mohinder shoots Noah, mimicking Isaac's painting exactly, and Noah is struck in the left eye and dies. While his family believes him to be dead, the episode ends with Noah in a Company facility, strapped to a gurney and being given a transfusion of Claire's blood; his destroyed eye subsequently regenerates and he returns to life.[8]

In "Truth & Consequences", Mohinder tells him that he was revived with Claire's blood and that Claire is at home, thinking he is dead. During the episode, with Noah still in the hands of The Company, Bob visits the Bennet's home with an urn telling them that it contains Noah's ashes.

In "Powerless", Noah returns to his family, clearly shocking them all as he is allegedly dead. He tells them that he was brought back using Claire's blood, and that he made a deal with The Company which will allow his family to lead a normal life with one condition—he must stay with the company. Noah then leaves his family.

Claire Bennet

Claire Bennet is a high school student formerly of Odessa, TX where she used to be a cheerleader. She lives with her adoptive family in Costa Verde, CA. Claire discovers she has the ability to heal seemingly any wound, nearly instantaneously.

Background

Claire was born to Nathan Petrelli and Meredith Gordon, two people possessing abilities. Noah Bennet and his partner, Claude, who are agents of the Company, arrive at Meredith's house to study her and her ability until she blows the door open and Noah finds Claire and carries her out safely. Noah and his wife, Sandra, later adopt her. In the graphic novel "Elle's First Assignment", which takes place before the series begins, Bob gives Elle her first assignment, which is to track and follow Claire, posing as a student at Union Wells High School. Elle is reluctant, but Bob informs her that Claire is important to the Company and that her blood may become important. Claire never realizes that Elle is following her.

Six months prior to the start of the series, Claire had just become a cheerleader at her high school, with the help of her friend Jackie Wilcox. During a playful dispute with Jackie, Claire crashes into a glass case cutting her hand. When they show Claire's parents, Mrs. Bennet says that Claire might need stitches. After Claire, Jackie, and Mrs. Bennet leave for the hospital, the phone rings and Mr. Bennet answers. It is Chandra Suresh, a scientist who studies paranormal phenomenon, informing him of Claire's power.

Several days later, Mr. Bennet asks if he can see her hand with the stitches. When they unravel the cloth around her hand they are both surprised to see not even a small scratch. Mr. Bennet remarks, "Well, that healed nicely."

Genesis

In the pilot episode "Genesis", set several months later, Claire has discovered her power. Frightened as to what it means, she confides in Zach, a high-school classmate who videotapes Claire testing her regenerative power by attempting to injure--and even kill--herself. Zach thinks Claire's power is the "coolest thing to ever happen in their town"; Claire believes it makes her a freak and is afraid of it being discovered. Her younger brother, Lyle, also discovers Claire's powers after finding the tape Zach filmed, Claire swearing him to secrecy.

Despite wanting nothing more than a normal life, Claire has been through her share of harrowing experiences, including an attempted rape, being murdered during the attempt, and reviving during an autopsy. Claire is also consumed with curiosity about her birth parents, having been adopted when she was a year old.

After the first four episodes of the series, a story arc called "Save the cheerleader, save the world" begins. Claire's ultimate fate is implied to be tied to the fate of the entire world. A future version of Hiro Nakamura cryptically told Peter Petrelli: "Save the cheerleader, save the world." Isaac Mendez, a drug-addicted painter in New York experiences a vision of Claire being chased at her school. He also paints a picture of a blonde cheerleader with the top of her skull removed.

In the episode "Homecoming", Claire is elected homecoming queen after her friend Zach campaigns for her, persuading all of the school's "unpopular" students (who outnumber the "popular" ones) to vote for her. Claire punches Jackie after Jackie taunts Zach about his sexuality. Claire's father grounds her, intending to keep her out of harm's way by preventing her from fulfilling Isaac's "prophecies." Zach persuades Claire to sneak out her bedroom window and go to the game anyway.

At the game, Claire meets Peter, not knowing that he is her biological uncle or that he is there with the intention of saving her from Sylar. However, since he saw the newspaper article where Jackie took credit for the fire rescue that Claire did, Peter believes Jackie is the cheerleader he is there to save. Sylar catches the two girls in the locker room and cuts Jackie's scalp telekinetically. Claire is thrown against a wall when she attempts to intervene. Claire, splattered with blood, quickly recovers from her broken bones, gets up, and runs away from Sylar, who realizes he has made a mistake as Jackie dies from massive blood loss. In the hallway, she finds Peter and the two of them flee the building. Claire takes Peter's advice to run toward the stadium full of people, but then turns back to find him lying in a pool of blood. She is then astonished to see him heal himself just like her. As Claire goes to get help, she runs into the arms of her relieved father, who says the police will handle things at the school. He also says she is lucky to be alive, leading Claire to admit that her survival is not due to luck.

When the story continues in "Fallout", Claire's father informs her that he has always known about her powers and has done things he is not proud of to protect her. He tells her Sylar has been taken care of, but warns Claire not to tell anyone about her powers, claiming there are others who would want to harm her. Claire recovers the remaining video tapes depicting her powers from Zach and destroys them. She warns Zach not to tell anyone about her healing abilities. Claire and her father are interviewed by law enforcement officials, but Claire tells them both she and Peter must have been "just lucky" to have survived Sylar's attack. Claire later meets with Peter alone and is fascinated when he tells her he risked his life to save her (as he was not sure in advance if he had adopted Claire's healing factor). She remarks that he is "totally [her] hero."

Claire later discovers that both her brother and Zach no longer remember what they have seen regarding her unusual healing abilities. Claire panics and calls her father, extremely frightened. Mr. Bennet reassures her that he remembers and everything will be all right. The Haitian then appears out of the shadows and covers Claire's mouth with his hand. He tells Claire that Mr. Bennet sent him to wipe her memory of the preceding events, just as he has wiped the memories of Brody, Lyle, and Zach. The Haitian even states that he had to mind wipe Claire's mother "so many times" in the past. However, the Haitian then said that there is a reason Claire must remember and asks her if she can keep a secret.

Two weeks later, Claire is struggling with being alone again since the Haitian did not wipe her memory. In front of her father, she pretends that she does not remember anything the Haitian was supposed to erase. She tries to reconnect with Zach, but between his lack of memory and resentment over the way their friendship ended in grade school, he is not interested. Desperate, Claire meets with the Haitian to discuss her options and the state of things. She mentions "save the cheerleader, save the world," wondering what it means and if she is even "saved." The Haitian states that she has been saved for the time being. He also rebuffs her request to see Peter, stating he is being watched by her father. She asks the Haitian to give Zach his memories back, as she does not want to be alone, but he tells her he cannot. Before leaving, the Haitian also recommends she respect her abilities more, rather than see them as an affliction. Eventually, Claire takes Zach back to the spot where they filmed "attempt number six." After redoing the same stunt from "Genesis", she now says into Zach's camera, "This is Claire Bennet, and as far as you know, that was attempt number one."

In "The Fix", Claire and Zach search for information on her biological mother. Their search leads them to Meredith Gordon, a woman reported to have died in a fire along with her eighteen-month-old daughter. They believe Claire to be Meredith Gordon's reportedly-dead daughter. When Claire contacts several people with the surname "Gordon," she finds a woman who identifies herself as Meredith.

The woman is shocked to hear that Claire survived and is revealed to possess the ability of pyrokinesis. In "Distractions", Claire and Meredith meet, sharing their powers with each other. Later, Meredith telephones Claire's biological father, who is revealed to be Nathan Petrelli, informing him that their daughter is still alive.

In the episode "Unexpected", Claire finds that her mother, Mrs. Bennet is showing signs of temporary memory loss, at one point even forgetting the family dog, Mr. Muggles, only to revert to her normal self a few minutes later. Later on, Mrs. Bennet collapses while in the kitchen and is rushed to the hospital. When Mr. Bennet arrives, Claire is unable to suppress her anger against him any longer and admits to knowing about the repeated memory wipes that Mr. Bennet has had done on her mother. After this, the family returns home, where they are confronted by Ted Sprague and Matt Parkman.

In "Company Man", Claire and her family are held captive by Sprague and Parkman. After a botched attempt to free the family by Mr. Bennet, Claire and her father convince Matt to shoot her to get Sprague's trust. She attempts to free her family after she regenerates, but is captured by Sprague in the attempt. After Sprague is shot and his radiation powers go violently out of control, Claire uses her regenerative powers to get close enough to tranquilize him. However, Claire is seen healing from severe radiation burns by one of Mr. Bennet's superiors, who insists that Claire be turned over to their employers. In the end, Claire is given to the Haitian, who is to keep her safe from Bennet's company.

In "Parasite", she is supposed to go with the Haitian to flee the country but manages to slip away from him by stealing his passport at the airport. She then goes to Peter Petrelli's apartment, regarding him as the only person she can trust in the current chaos her life has become. However, she finds his mother, Angela Petrelli, there instead, and Angela reveals that not only is she Claire's grandmother, but that she and the Haitian have been corresponding for some time in order to protect Claire.

In ".07%", Claire learns that her grandmother, Angela Petrelli, knew of her existence all along, even though Nathan thought she had died in a fire as a baby. Mrs. Petrelli tells her that she still needs protecting and the two of them will be going to Paris until after the election. When the seemingly dead body of Peter Petrelli is brought to his mother's house, Claire comes downstairs to see Peter for herself. Claire finds a huge jagged shard of glass penetrating his skull. When she pulls it out, Peter comes back to life. Later, Nathan, realizing he cannot afford to have her in the city in the days leading up to the election—to avoid any scandalous issues and possibly to get her out of the way of Peter's nuclear explosion—asks Claire to go to Paris. Claire reluctantly agrees to go with Angela, and the two of them embrace warmly.

Two days before New York is to be blown up, Claire is still staying in the Petrelli Mansion. She watches as her father Nathan greets his wife, Heidi Petrelli, and their two boys, Monty and Simon, upon their return to the mansion, although Claire is not introduced to them. Later, Claire and her grandmother, Angela Petrelli, begin packing her bags for Paris. Peter walks into the room and talks to Claire about destiny, although she is convinced the best way for Nathan to protect her is to fly to Paris. Claire tells Peter about Ted Sprague, a man who can manipulate radiation after Peter reveals he will likely "go nuclear" and destroy half of New York.

Peter and Claire confront Nathan about Ted; with someone else capable of manipulating radiation, Peter is hopeful the explosion can be prevented. Nathan remains doubtful, pointing out that Peter's vision was of his own explosion. Peter reminds Nathan that he had a vision of flying as well, despite the fact that it was Nathan who could fly - a fact that impresses Claire. Later, Peter and Claire go to the Petrelli campaign headquarters to meet with Nathan. Upon arriving, they see Nathan talking with Thompson, whom Claire recognizes as her adoptive father's boss and the man she is running from.

Peter gives Claire a handgun, telling her she is the only person who can get close to him if he begins to explode. He instructs her to shoot him in the back of the head, a spot she knows will prevent him from healing. She reluctantly agrees to carry the weapon. The pair recognize a location from one of Peter's drawings of Ted, and decide to look for him. While waiting for Ted to appear, Claire and Peter discuss how their powers have changed their lives. Claire then sees Mr. Bennet walking with Ted and Matt Parkman. She runs to her adoptive father as Peter and Matt acknowledge each other. Meanwhile, Peter notices his hands begin to glow as he absorbs Ted's power.

In "Landslide", Mr. Bennet orders Claire to leave the city with Peter and Ted. They are making plans to make their way out of New York to Nebraska when Peter hears Sylar's thoughts and they hide in a building upon realizing he is nearby. When they re-emerge, Ted is arrested by the FBI. Whilst on his way to a holding facility, the FBI truck transporting him is made to crash by Sylar and Ted is subsequently murdered; his abilities having been absorbed by the villain.

Upon receiving this news in "How to Stop an Exploding Man", Mr. Bennet requests that Peter stay with his daughter at all times and he agrees. Claire, however, feels betrayed when, instead of finding Sylar on their own, Peter drives them to a parking garage where Nathan is awaiting their arrival. Firm in her belief that they cannot trust him, Claire sneaks out when Peter leaves her in the car to speak with his brother, only for her to run into her grandmother, Angela Petrelli. Angela and Nathan have plans to leave the city with Claire to Nantucket but when she finds out that they knew about the impending explosion all along and is willing to let it transpire, she jumps out of Nathan's office window after bluffing them that she has accepted the situation. Rapidly healing after her fall, she runs off to Kirby Plaza where she catches up to the scene just when Peter is about to explode.

Mr. Bennet hands her a gun to shoot her uncle just as she had promised before but Claire hesitates, pleading with Peter that there must be another way. Nathan flies down in between them at that moment and agrees with his daughter. Claire and the others can only watch as Nathan flies away with his brother high into the air where Peter then explodes, saving New York City but possibly sacrificing her birth father and uncle's lives in the process.

As the first season ends, Claire reconciles with her adoptive father and they make plans to reunite with the rest of their family.

Generations

Four months later, Claire and her family have moved to California, where Claire starts her first day of 11th grade in Costa Verde High School under the last name of "Butler". She quickly meets West, who nearly runs her over when she accidentally runs in front of his car. Following her father's advice — "Be entirely unextraordinary" — she does nothing that makes her stand out.

In "Lizards", Claire, curious about the extent of her abilities and whether they could be used to help others, cuts off her own toe to see if it grows back. It does, but West, watching through the window, catches her in the act. Claire tries to keep him quiet about it, so he reveals his power, the ability to fly, to her. When Claire notices a two-line scar on his neck, he explains that he was "abducted by aliens" just after meeting a man with "horn-rimmed glasses", revealing that he was one of many caught and released by Claire's father.

In "The Kindness of Strangers", Claire pretends to make the cheerleading squad in order to have time to date West. She promises to her dad that she will not date in return. Though the cheerleading squad leader, Debbie, will not let her join, she and West manage to get Debbie kicked off the team by abusing their respective powers.

In "Out of Time", West comes to Claire's house unannounced to bring breakfast. Despite her efforts, West discovers the identity of Claire's father and refuses to talk to Claire about it. At the same time, her father discovers the news report about the drunk cheerleader — vague details of Claire and West's prank are given — and insists on moving again. Claire strongly refuses, saying that she will not go with them.

In "Truth & Consequences" a devastated Claire, who does not know that her father has been revived by the Company, scatters what she believes are his ashes at the beach. After doing so though, she quickly discovers Elle observing her. Claire runs up to Elle and tells her that due to what the Company did to her father, she will reveal her power. Claire then punches through Elle's car window and says, "You'll be the ones running" and walks away.

In "Powerless" Claire is confronted by both her mother and West about her decision to reveal her power to the world. She and West fight, she breaks up with him and after he flies off, her father appears, effectively halting her plans.

Bob Bishop

Bob is one of the twelve members of the group established by Adam Monroe thirty years prior to the events of Kirby Plaza. He is the financial source of the Company, using his ability to create unlimited amounts of gold and other "resources". Bob has been with the Company for 30 years.

The Company

In the flashback episode Four Months Ago..., Bob saves D.L. Hawkins' life by paying for his medical care and offering Niki Sanders a place to work which she refuses. He has detained Peter Petrelli for the four months with the assistance of his daughter, Elle, placing him in a cell next to Adam Monroe.

First introduced in "Four Months Later...", Bob meets Mohinder Suresh in Egypt after listening to Suresh give a lecture on the Shanti Virus and the emergence of special abilities in unique individuals. Suresh is hesitant to listen to Bob, recognizing instantly that he is with the Company. Bob convinces Suresh to join him in a restaurant, where Bob discusses the Company and their operations. Bob also reveals his ability to Suresh by turning an ordinary metal spoon into gold. Bob offers Suresh unlimited resources for his research on the Shanti Virus. Suresh joins Bob and the Company, although it is later revealed that Suresh was purposely trying to attract the Company in an effort to bring them down with Noah Bennet.

In "Lizards", Bob flies Mohinder to the Company's facility in Hartsdale, New York. Mohinder receives an assignment from Bob to track down the Haitian, who may have contracted the Shanti virus. Bob is led to believe that Mohinder's mind was wiped by the Haitian after he was cured, though this too is another deception on Mohinder's part: though he did have the virus and the vaccine worked, Mohinder sent the Haitian to Noah.

In "Kindred", Mohinder arrives at Isaac Mendez's loft, where Bob is reading Issue 14 of 9th Wonders! while he waits. He informs Mohinder that Isaac was murdered by Sylar, and shows him the new laboratory the Company has built for him. To Mohinder's shock, Bob tells him that he will be under constant surveillance, for both Mohinder's and the Company's best interests. He tells Mohinder that he's "part of the family now". Later, Bob provides Mohinder with a vial for studying, and then receives a phone call. Leaving the loft, he talks to Niki Sanders, who asks Bob if she can be cured. Bob assures her that they can, but that she must give them something of hers in exchange.

After Molly Walker is put into a coma by Maury Parkman, Mohinder takes Molly to the Company for treatment, against Noah's wishes. There, Bob promises that they will care for her before giving Mohinder an assignment to find another evolved human, this time giving him a taser. Niki breaks out of her confinement and attacks Bob, only to be stopped when Mohinder tasers her. Niki is confined to a hospital bed. Bob tells her that multiple personality disorder is a serious problem and tries to reassure her.

In "The Line", Bob walks in on a training session between Monica Dawson and Mohinder. He attempts to have Mohinder test a new strain of the Shanti virus on Monica without her knowledge. Mohinder refuses to comply, explaining that they could create an incurable version of the virus which, if released, would be devastating. Bob believes it to be an acceptable risk for the person it was designed for, and orders Mohinder to inject her. Mohinder instead destroys the stores of the modified virus and prepares to leave with Molly. Bob manages to convince Mohinder to stay by offering someone who will keep them both honest: Niki, who is now cured. Bob also brings Monica to her home and explains that her absence has been covered. He gives her a list of contact information and an iPod complete with footage of just about anything for her to learn using her ability. She thanks him, and he replies that New Orleans could use her skills.

In "Out of Time", Matt Parkman and Nathan Petrelli alert Bob of the plot against his life by Maury Parkman. Bob suggests that the Shanti virus be used on Maury, whose power is only matched by Matt's, who is himself untrained in its use. However, when Niki and Mohinder attempt to retrieve it, Maury uses Niki's nightmares to take control of her. In order to stop herself, she injects herself with the virus. Mohinder tries to treat her with his antibodies, but finds that the virus has mutated and cannot be stopped by his blood. When he tells this to Bob, Bob decides to destroy all the vials of the virus they have, and that they must find Claire. Bob explains that her regenerative ability may help save Niki. Mohinder tells Bob that he has been working with Noah Bennet to take down the Company and he does not know what is right anymore. After Mohinder's confession, Bob gives Mohinder a Company issue gun.

In "Cautionary Tales," it is revealed that Bob is Elle's father. He assigns Elle as Mohinder's partner to pick up Claire. Claire's blood is believed to be the necessary key to curing the Shanti virus. Once Claire is in custody, Bob fills a blood bag with some of her blood. However, during an altercation with Noah Bennet, Elle is captured and incapacitated. Bob agrees to trade Elle for Claire. However, during the trade-off, Elle attempts to murder Claire and her boyfriend, West. Bennet shoots Elle in the arm, and attempts to kill Bob, as well, reasoning that without him the Company would fall apart. Mohinder shoots Bennet in the left eye, fulfilling the prediction made in one of Isaac Mendez's paintings. Bennet is later revived using Claire's blood.

In "Truth & Consequences" he gives the Bennets what he claims are Noah's ashes. He says that as per Noah's wishes he will leave Claire alone. He tells Elle to follow Claire and that Elle has disappointed him. When Claire threatens to expose her powers and the Company, Bob attempts to appease her by letting her know that her father is still alive and sending him back. There is a catch, though; Bennet must work again for the Company.

The graphic novels show him searching for the enigmatic Richard Drucker. When Drucker and his niece Hana Gitelman (their consciousnesses existing in cyberspace) attempt to invade the Company mainframe, Bob has it destroyed.
